Hi, I am new to the digital scrapbooking process and even newer to photoshop elements 5.0. I am trying to figure out how to change the color of a paper. I can be done right?

There are numerous ways to change paper color. Here are a few ideas to get you started, I'm sure others can share other ways. Also, I use PS CS2, so some of the names of these things may be slightly different.
1. Open your paper in PS. Go to Image, Adjustments, and Hue/Saturation. Mess around with the hue and see what changes you can get.
2. Use an overlay. Drag the paper onto an open page (all by itself). In the Layers box, there's a circle with an F in. Click that button and then Color Overlay. A pop-up window will open. You have to select color overlay again in the blend mode pull down menu. You can select different colors by clicking on the color box (right of drop down menu).
3. If you have a paper that you want to match another paper, open both papers in PS. With the paper you want to change selected, go to Image, Adjustments, and Match color. This will bring up a pop-up window. At the bottom is a drop-down menu called source. In that menu select the paper you want it to match. Adjust the luminance, color intensity, and fade to get the look you want.
Hope that helps. I'm sure there's many more ways out there. That's the great thing about PS, you do so many amazing things.

The Hue saturation thing worked really well. Thanks

I like your suggestions Alyson. You have some fun reminders for me of ways to do things differently than I usually do.
#3 won't work that way in Elements but you can do it a very similar way. Read this. (http://www.digitalscrapbookmemories.com/tips/changingColors.asp)
