Does anyone know if when you buy the adobe Photoshop you can install it on more than one computer?

That didn't make sense...

What I mean is that when we got the elements we were able to install it on multiple computers so we were able to split the cost of the cd between a bunch of us.

I am going to have to give you the "maybe" and the "no" answer at the same time.

I want to find out what their licensing does allow. But I know that you can't not buy one copy and share it between people like that. That is the "no" part.

But I am not sure that if you own two computers, say a desktop and a laptop, if you can buy one copy and use it on both computers. That is the "maybe" part.

I guess the different between the two is "licensed per person" or "licensed per computer" theory. In CS2 I believe you have to use a transfer a license out of one computer and onto another before it will work. So I am thinking that they do not want you to even share it between two computers that you own, you will need to pick the one you are going to use and stick with that one computer.

I think you can buy legal copies for this price. What they do is they get an older version of PS that no one has used then they buy the upgrade to CS which is around $199. They sell you both of these together which in the end give you CS3 for a lower price.

I am seeing a wide range of prices for Photoshop 7.0. so I am not sure what you can buy it for. But you can upgrade from 7.0 (or better) to CS3 for $199

I took this from Adobe's manual for Elements 5 (http://www.adobe.com/products/eulas/pdfs/Gen_WWCombined_PSE_5_012507.pdf)

Portable of Home Computer Use. The primary user of the Computer on which the Software in installed may install a second copy of the Software for his or her exclusive use on either a portable Computer or a Computer located at his or her home, provided the Software on the portable or home Computer is not used at the same time as the Software on the primary Computer

The manual for CS2 (http://www.adobe.com/products/eulas/pdfs/Gen_WWCombinedCS2.pdf)has the exact same wording. I could not quickly find a manual for CS3

Keith... thank you so much for finding that. That is exactly what I was looking for. My husband and I have two separate computers because we are both using them so much. I didn’t want to buy the full version unless we could put it on the two separate computers. You’re the best! Happy Fathers Day!

Much better guess than mine:
Elephants under little apples.
Earwigs under Las Angeles.
Enough ugly little aardvarks.
Earnie's underwear lost in Alabama.

Amy that is true, you can buy it cheaper if your a student, but if you are using it for professional reasons then you can't use the student version! And you can't get the upgrades for it. I took some photography classes and that is what my teacher had told us! it's fine to use for yourself, but not on "Clients" and i think you have to be taking a class that has to do with photography or photoshop.....

I got Photoshop CS2 for a student price, and I'm not taking any classes related to photography or photoshop. I have the website address at my computer at home (I think), so I can post it on Sunday or Monday. If anyone is interested, remind me about that if I forget.
