White LCD screen on my Nikon D70

Someone please help! We have a Nikon D70 and the other day the LCD screen went totally white! It still takes pics and everything else, but not screen. We bought it at Inkley's and they say that is still under warranty, but will take 4-8 weeks to fix it! That is too long without a picture taken! Has this happened to anyone else? And will it really take 4-8 weeks to fix? ANy ideas or thoughts would be much apprectiated.

My parents Cannon did that right about the time of my wedding.. They didn't have it under warranty so they still haven't gotten it fixed becasue it was going to be like $500 or something like that. I personally would get it fixed.. It's better to not have it for 4-8 weeks rather then to have it lead to more problems and be totally without a camera... My mom is left with her cell phone camera, which luckily is a pretty good one, but definately not great...
