Scanners

My hubby will get me a new scanner for my Bday. I wondered if anyone had one that they loved or disliked? I used to have a HP but it became outdated several years ago when we got a new pc. Options have really changed since then. I will be scanning slides and film so that will limit my options. Any ideas? I read reviews onEpson 4490, HP 5530 and Cannon 8600F.

I have really liked my Epson. I have an Epson Perfection 3170. I'm sure there are much newer models now though.

I like how the cover lifts so that really thick things can be scanned.
and...
I like how it scans slides and negatives.

I have the Epson Perfection 1670 (so it's probably even older than April's) and I love mine too. It does slides and negatives, bulky items and is easy to use.

Thanks, I'll probably go with the Epson Perfection 4490. It's good to know that Epsons will let you scan bulky items.
