I told you guys I would post as soon as it happened. Ryan asked me last night at temple square. I'll have to post some pictures/pages and more details but AHHH! I'm getting married!
A little about us: Ryan and I met online through eHarmony.com. We went to a comedy club on our first date. Fun things we have done together: going to Lagoon for his birthday, attending the Shakespeare festival (we saw Twelfth Night), and flying to Wisconsin for my best friend's wedding. We both love discussing issues of the day, taking on adventures and eating sushi.
I had a great time working with you guys at the What Women Want Expo, and we'll see you in a few weeks!
Love to all

Congrats Stephanie!! Planning a wedding, HOW FUN!! Do you have a date set?
BTW everybody, Stephanie is the person I talked to at the Expo a year ago. She explained everything so well that I decided to buy all four CDs that were available at the time. Thanks Stephanie for helping me get started in digi-scrapping.

Jan. 5, 2008 is the date we have chosen to be married in the Salt Lake Temple. So, Quinn, it's too bad you weren't serious about being my wedding planner! Thanks everyone... I'm so happy!

I can be serious about being your wedding planner... whatever you'd like! How exciting! You'll be a beautiful winter bride!
p.s. my mom's business has one mean cake buffet (http://web.mac.com/rqcurtis/iWeb/Curtis%20Family/Eat%20Cookies.html) if you're interested. And you've got to check out (http://web.mac.com/rqcurtis/iWeb/Curtis%20Family/Eat%20Cookies.html) "The Bride's Shop" downtown, if you haven't already got a dress. It's this tiny family owned shop on South Temple that gets designer dresses for amazing prices & the altering fees are awesome! I should put before & after photos of what they did to my dress. It was a corset dress that they altered completely to have 3-quarter sleeves & everything! (how's that for wedding planning?!) :)

BTW everybody, Stephanie is the person I talked to at the Expo a year ago. that's fun!
"If you tell your friends your dreams and they don't laugh, your dreams aren't big enough." Oooohh! I LOVE that quote!!
I've tasted Quinn's mom's cakes and it is soo delicious and good. She would be perfect to get a cake from.

That poppyseed lemon curd cake looks fabulous! And I will check out that shop downtown. I'll really take any leads you guys have! You probably have some good photography leads... spill please...

One of the instructors @ the Sandy Inkley's does weddings. His work is DROP-DEAD GORGEOUS!!! His bridals made me want to re-do mine, even though mine were nice... his were incredible! If interested, I can get you his name & number, even just to price compare.
BTW: my mom's cakes aren't intended to be THE cake, just a cake buffet for your reception or dessert for the wedding dinner (the poppy seed IS scrumptious!)... but if you want an AWESOME deal on a delicious wedding cake (totally custom made), I know where to find that too. This lady matched Crystal's cake to the colors of the wedding & the brocade in Crystal's dress. She even made Crystal's hubby a fish grooms cake (it was beautiful!). Her cakes are yummy & her fondant is delicious! And her prices are a steal.
(My family has all sorts of hook-ups & would be in the wedding planning business if there was any market for it in Utah. Wedding planners usually don't do well here because everyone wants to do their own, thinking they can do it for cheaper than what a wedding planner would charge, but generally a planner actually saves you money.)

I went to the brides shop and was sad... I used to go to LDSBC and it's right across the street... anyways... they wanted to charge me 6000.00 for the dress and altering.
Stephanie-
Have you called the Temple yet? They book up fast.
Scott Sumner did my wedding... I loved my pictures....

Congrats Stephanie! I'm so excited for you! I loved my photographer that did my bridals, engagements, and wedding pictures! Her name is Darla Roze.
Her website, it has all her information: www.rozephotography.com

I went to LDSBC, too!
Some good advice I received was to write down the top 3 things that are most important to you in your wedding & put your money there.
Mine was my dress, the photographer & the reception ambiance. So, it just depends where you want to put your money. I wanted a killer dress, so I was thrilled with The Bride's Shop (their tux prices were really good, too). The trick is to get the dresses that are being discontinued... they're less expensive.
But, if you want a gorgeous dress, but to not pay very much, that's definitely available, too. There are lots of great places.

I'm so sad!
I loved my photographer that did my bridals, engagements, and wedding pictures! Her name is Darla Roze.
Just visited her site & wanted to cry! I wish I had known about her when I got married! That's exactly the kind of photos I wanted & asked my photographer for, but I didn't get them & I'm still bummed. I bet your album is gorgeous, Jenny!

She is my husbands friend so she took the pictures at a discounted price. I didn't get the album, because of the discount, so I'm making one myself. I personally like it that way. I know some people that like their professional wedding albums but wished that they could have switched out some of the pictures. I got all the pictures on CDs so it works out great! She's our photographer now for family pictures. She's awesome to work with.

Oooh! She is a great photographer. I checked out her blog and I'm wondering where she took the pictures for the bride shown on the September 10th post "Ashley's Bridals"? I want to go there and take pictures NOW.http://rozephotography.blogspot.com/

I got my dress at Bridal Expressions (http://www.bridalexpressions.biz/)in Sandy. I absolutely love it, my dress was a $900.00 dress that I got for like $450, and then I got my veil, tiara, and garter there as well, all for right around $560.00 total. The alterations wer $100.00. They are really nice and have gorgeous dresses!
Here are some picutres of the cakes that our family friend did for my wedding..

How much did everyone pay for the photo album. I fell in love with one, but it was 700.
Jenny- where are you getting your album done at?
Jenny McDonald
09-13-2007, 10:49 AM
I'm making it. I got a really cute 12x12 scrapbooking album at Target that I want to use for the allbum. I'm just scrapping it like any other scrapbook. Maybe its cheesy to do it that why, but I think it shows more personality then getting the professional ones. I'm crazy! Oh well!
We're trying to get family pics with Darla in October (outside with the leaves changing colors, so excited) and I'll find out where she took "Ashley's Bridals" then. Hopefully you can wait that long, April. Or maybe someone else knows where that is.
I love your cakes Crystal! They show so much personality!

Thanks Jenny. I'll wait. I probably can't come up for air until then anyway. Soooo busy.

I am doing my photo album the same way Jenny is.. I got a really cute scrapbook made out of handmade paper with leaves in that I was planning on using for my wedding album.. I also like the way you can 'make it your own' and have it be personal..
Thank you, I was really happy with the cakes! Devin loved his bass as well!

Roze was amazing! I'm also looking at www.lindsayjanephotography.com, www.brodydezemberphoto.com... these guys are fabulous. Zuma Photo (www.zumaphoto.com) is great, but their pricing is through the roof. Pepper Nix (www.peppernix.com) is pretty amazing, but I think she's expensive also. But if you're just window shopping, stop by their sites!
Quinn, please post that info about the Inkleys guy. In fact, I'll probably call you sometime soon since you have so many ideas and you'd be so helpful!
priorities
1. photography
2. dress
3. reception ambiance, like you said
Quinn

The photographer @ Inkley's is Todd Gladd. To inquire about prices & such, they said to call the store @ (801) 571-6991. If you wanted to go in to the Sandy store you could see his work in person.
I'd love you to call! This is soooooo exciting for you! xoxo

Please Please Please.. Read this...
At my wedding I thought that Hey... I could just have some family members walk around with some video cameras to save money... and I still haven't seen any footage.. So look around for that too okay Stephanie!!! I loved one wedding I just went to ... I'll get the companies name.. that did the video.

i agree on the whole wedding videoagraphy!! My moms friend had played around with editing, so she did mine, and i love it. it's not way professional, but i suggest to everyone to get a videoagrapher!! it's just as important as the photography!! oh, and check out STC Digital, they are good!!

Jenny
Thanks for posting the Darla Roze web site. I've been looking at it all day. I love her style. In fact, I have a friend that is getting married in Salt Lake on Dec. 12th so I e-mailed her Darla's info and she booked her today. She is so excited because Darla is just what she is looking for. :)
BTW are your pictures still on her site?

I wish they were! I'm so excited that she is using her! She is great, very nice, lovely, etc. So much fun to work with. Oh, my family pictures are on October 4th, so I'll find out where she took "Amber's Bridals" and when I get my CD I'll post some pictures.
What are some cute colors to wear for family pictures? It's only me, my husband and my baby girl. Any suggestions?
When I have more time I'll upload some pics if you want to see them.

good colors for pictures...hmmmm....browns are popular right now, and so are jewel toned colors!! or you can always go with the famous white shirts and jeans, but i like the black shirts with the jeans better. especially if there are fall leaves that are golden and red all around. i don't know if that helps any. layers are in, they are more of an urban feel. i'm not sure if i helped any...good luck with it all. The best thing that my husband and I did was decide that at 8pm the night before we got married everything that was going to get done by us was done (for the reception etc...) and that we weren't going to stress about it. We wanted to have fun on our day and we really did! We knew that no one else would remember what was on the cake or the tables or anything else... really... so we had to live what was done and just have a great time!!! We didn't have a line either, we just walked around and talked to people this made it so much more fun and I could sit down when ever I wanted to. I hope your day is as great as mine was!

Here are my colors. I might use this as an invitation or an insert or something.

Very pretty colors! One thing that we did that saved lots of money was we made our own invitations. I loved doing it this way because you can design it, leave it for a couple days then come back and see if you really like it.
I'll help stuff envelopes if you need. Or help in any other way if you would like. Just let me know. I have no life! Sigh!
