I just had this emailed to me. It's a video for a company that is promoting infant/toddler pool safety. I lifeguarded and taught swimming lessons as a teenager so I guess it peaked my interest. It's a cool video. It was hard for me to watch at first, but if you watch to the very end, you feel better. You can see the video here (http://www.childdrowningprevention.com/index.html).

I think that is a good idea to do though... do they teach lessons in Utah?

It doesn't look like it. You can find certified instructors at http://www.infantswim.com. I didn't see any in Utah.

Hopefully by the time I have kids they will have instructors. It would definately make parents feel less worried! What a good idea! The video wanted to make me scream "get that child out of the pool" though!

I was talking to my neighbor about this and she said she taught her baby how to swim like this at 18 months. She said the Jewish Community Center in Salt Lake taught the classes. Her daughter is now in high school, so that was a long time ago. She wasn't sure if they still did the classes or not.
