Embellish Drop & Swap

By no means do I start this as a distraction from the Scrap Swap, but I've been thinking of starting this thread for about a month (if not longer), so here it is.

Sometimes the toughest part of a layout is embellishing it. I participated in a challenge once that had us email a jpeg of a layout for another person to embellish. It rocked! So, I think we should have a place here to drop off layouts that you're stumped about embellishing. Then if someone feels like it, they can embellish it for you.

To get this going, here's the layout I'm stumped about embellishing:
(Remember to only post jpeg versions of layouts to embellish & return them in a jpeg version after embellishing, so copyright isn't violated.)

Quinn, I tried and tried to find a place to embellish. I think it looks perfect. You need to get another picture posted. Was this a trick question? :)

ha ha. Definitely not a trick question. :) I think this LO just needs a little something more. The LO I had to embellish was tougher than this, but embellishing doesn't have to be huge. Even adding a staple or a brad can really help complete a LO. Thanks for your try! I know it's a tough LO, but it looks unfinished to me, so I don't like it much. Perfectionism & OCD.

I think it's cute as is as well. I did have one idea (not that it needs it...just trying to help you think it looks finished), but I would need to know what kit you have been using. I think I have the kit, but I don't have time to search for it. I'm not even sure if my idea will look at all good.

Very cute! But really, you expect me to embellish your lo when I can't even figure out what to do with my own?? LOL! I guess I should post some of my pages here too... actually I might take a stab at this, although you're right, this is a tough one!I think it looks good as is but I'll see what I can add... but before I try, is it okay that you only posted a low res version? I'm just thinking that if I work on a low res version you won't be able to print it if you like my work;) Does that make sense?

Alishaw, I think your idea is brilliant for have the photo previews for the scrapswap be hyperlinks to the photobucket full version. How do you maintain the full quality? Do any of you have suggestions on how it could be easier to snag this LO? Hmm.. just thought of something, I'll try it & let you know.

Here's my try at embellishing (I couldn't decide whether I liked with staples or without). It was a really tough LO! Those photos are so dramatic that I didn't dare do much to it. Hope you like it Crystal!

here is a page that I have gotten this far... I need to add some type of journaling if only "Andrew 2008" or "Andrew Faces" But I don't know where to put it so it doesn't take away... I also need some kind of border around the very outside of the page, but I can't figure out what... I know you will all have great ideas... PM me if you need the high res

Hey Alex -

I didn't download your page because I don't think I could do what I want to with it as a .jpeg file, but I'll try to explain...

I would take the bigger photo and rotate it a little so it's on a slant, probably a little to the left. This would leave a little blank space at the top left and bottom right. You could place a colored paper behind it if you don't like the white. You could put some sort of a title in those spaces, or other type of embellishment. I think it would be cute if the title/embellishment overlapped the photos a little.

I agree with Lynett on slanting the big picture and then adding the title in the corners.. I too think it would look cute overlapping some picutres. There are so many of his face that I don't think it would take away from it at all. For some kind of border.. You could continue the zig-zag stitch all the way around the edge, or you could do a grunge type boarder with a low opacity so it doesn't cover too much of the pictures..
