All right. I have gotten to know some of you, but there are some I don't know. Maybe you all did this when you first started, so if you did, then you don't need to participate. I thought I would tell a bit about myself. Not too much though. More is yet to come. First off, let me explain the photo. It is a majorly cropped photo of me kissing a buffalo. It is just my personality. We were in Jackson Hole and I did it. Last year when we were in Seattle, I kissed a giant salmon. I have two absolutely darling boys with gigantic eyelashes and a super sweet and cute husband. (Who cleans up the dinner mess every single night). We love to go camping and being out doors. I wish I could sing and play the piano, but I can't. Cooking is one of my favorite things to do. I teach cooking classes every month with my sister and we just love it. I really love to run. I can't wait until I can run a marathon. I am thinking a half marathon would be great to do next summer. Any takers? Running is so much more fun with people. My friends in my neighborhood run 6 or 8 miles every Thanksgiving. It is just a tradition we started ourselves and we look forward to it every year. The guys play football so we needed something. Well that is me in a nutshell. If you want to tell about yourselves you newbies, please do.

Okay, so I am feeling a bit not special. I thought someone might post to this and say something. Everyone says they are on this site all the time. maybe everyone already told something about themselves. If that is the case, great. If not, post something.

Brittany, you're cute--don't feel bad. I'm just a little bit shy to talk about myself. I did do a get to know you earlier--it was on another thread; so I thought I would let the new ones participate--but I love hearing about you new chicks on the forum. Hang in there some will come forward this evening. :)

Britany, how come you didn't participate in that cooking recipe layout a few weeks ago? We needed YOU!

I am new to posting although I have been lurking for awhile so I will play. I have a 17 month old little girl and a wonderful husband. Right now he stays is Ogden 4 days a week so I am very busy with our daughter and work. I am new to digital scrapbooking and am enjoying it. I like scrapbooking but doing it the traditional was is impossible.
I also love to cook. My husband thought I was lying about that when we first met. He couldn't imagine that someone enjoyed what he thought of as a chore.
Do you teach the cooking classes as a business or just for fun to friends?

Kim I did do the cooking swap. I did the raspberry chicken.
Tpowers, thanks for tellling about yourself. Some of my classes are volunteer and others I get paid to do. It is fun to get paid for something you just love.

Hi!!! I saw this last night but haven't had time to post. I LOVE threads like this so I'll be back.

I saw this thread also, but didn't have time to post. Also, I have told about myself quite a few times on this forum and figured a lot of people would get sick of hearing about me. I'll keep it short and sweet. I'm 29, divorced, and going back to school. I'm doing pre-pharmacy stuff now, and should be finished with pharmacy school and everything in about 5 1/2 more years. I was in the Air force for 6 years and have lived in TX, NC, ID, and England. I'm back in my home state of UT now. Oh, and I have no kids.

Hi! Let's see... I'm 25, married, with two little boys (ages 2 1/2 and 9 months). I'm a SAHM (aside from the one night a week I work at Gymboree) and my husband is currently in dental school. He'll graduate in May and then we'll be moving - just not sure where yet. Right now it looks like New Mexico. We are both from the west and miss it, although we LOVE living in Philly. Aside from the homicide rate, it's great! (We do live in the city but we're in a very safe neighborhood.) I have very mixed feelings about the next step; we'll really miss it here and it's always scary to start over somewhere new, but I'm SO excited to have an income and start chipping away at the mountain of student loans. And I dream of having a house and filling it with things that aren't hand-me-downs or bargain IKEA. But really, I'm loving where we're at in life and just enjoying each moment.
This is a fun thread Brittany, thanks for starting it!

Brittany-I'm sorry I didn't recognize you on the recipe thread. Did you have your picture posted there or was your name just posted at the time? I'm usually really good with faces :) I'm sorry. I'm going to make that raspberry chicken soon! Hey, I'm sure enjoying this thread. I love to hear about people. Keep the information coming.

okee I will play! WOOT. I dont think I have formally introduced myself at all but some of you know me already.
okee...here goes. I am 26, EXTREMELY happily married and a 20 month old son as of today! His name is Caulen, he is a rockstar like his mom! LOL. I LOVE LOVE LOVE, camping, hiking, LOVE to cook, LOVE it! I love getting myself mixed up in new hobbies all the time and love having a million and one things to do, which I am still working on getting to a million!:P My hubby is hardcore into rockcrawling and I would love to be hardcore again into dirtbiking like back in the old days. I live in a small house on a VERY small property, but it wont knock my dreams of 100 acres of land or more, with a ranch style house and a porch that wraps all the way around. I have a pitbull named Harley but she is really a big woosy dog, but she is super cute and just got a bath! I am new to digi scrapbooking but I wouldnt do it any other way! I think that is it for now...!!!

I am so glad that you started this thread! I also live in Riverton....maybe we live close. I am a runner. I did the St. George Marathon and about five or more half marathons. I love half marathons, they are the way to go. I have to admit that I am now a GYM goer. I have a membership to Life Time....it is one of my favorite places to go. I had a little girl a year ago and my husband tends to work some long hours so...my solutions was the gym. I also teach third grade at Rose Creek Elementary which is right by Home Depot. I like to cook but really enjoy the nights that we get to go out to dinner. I think that I like it so much becuase I don't have to pick up the food off the floor. I am somewhat of a neat freak. I like things really clean and orderly....well that is enough about me. We should totally get together.

That sounds like a lot of fun. I hope to someday do a marathon. I think it will have to be when I am done having kids and they are a bit older. I know it is a huge time commitment to make when you train. I am hoping to do the race from Logan to Park City next year. You get a team of 8 or 12 and then you each take a few legs of the race. I don't go to the gym because I love to run outside. It was freezing on Thanksgiving, (19 degrees) but I got hot and felt that I needed to take off my sweatshirt. There is just something about running outside. Anyway, it would be fun to get together.

I am horrible at running! Even when i was in shape back in high school! It killed me to run a mile and a 1/2 for gym! It took me like 10 minutes, and i hated the whole 10 mintues i was doing it! blah! I was always one who enjoyed the pump classes and weight lifting!

OK here is an introduction about what I am all about. I am 25, almost 26 this month. I have two crazy boys that I love and can get enough of sometimes (man they wear me out some times)!!!! I live in West Valley Ut (a good part!) I have a great husband that loves me and my kids but drives me crazy sometimes (doesn't all husbands?) (I am in a very sassy mood right now so take everything with a grain of salt, please)

I have no pets because I can't handle the extra responcibility (it would kill me if the fish died because I forgot to feed them or my boys fed them too much) I can't spell worth beans, so if you can't understand what I'm trying to say sometimes, sorry!

I have a messy house most of the time because I would rather play with my boys or scrapbook than do the dishes (yes I need to straighten out my priorities sometimes) I am a little crazy sometime... but very passionate all the time.

12-05-2007, 12:11 PM
I usually make the wrong food choices and I can't remember the last time I worked out (maybe water aerobics when I was pregnant with my first) and it definately shows (I weigh more now that ever before) I would like to do something about it but I'm too lazy...(remember I told you I was feeling sassy today)

OK...I'll play. I'm Jane, I'm 34 and I have 5 kids. Four boys ages 15, 12, 6 and 5 and a daughter who is 8. All 5 were c-sections...and the first two started out at 10 pounds!!! No more pregnancies/c-sections for me....so we are planning on adopting a daughter (between 2 and 4 years old) from Ethiopia...hopefully within the next year.

We live in Kaysville in a house that is too small for all of us....but we can't bring ourselves to move away from our wonderful neighborhood....and we have our little house paid off and can't really justify getting ourselves back into debt. So I just keep coming up with remodeling projects...they are much cheaper than a new house....and reminding myself that eventually all of the kids will move out and this house will seem HUGE!! LOL!!

I'm a stay at home mom....but I always seem to find odd jobs to keep me busy. I teach coupon classes for the Standard Examiner once or twice a monthand I keep the books for my friend's husband business.

I'm so glad that I found digital scrapbooking because I have never done any scrapbooking before due to the fact that I'm not an artsy/craftsy kind of girl. Digital is right up my alley.

We have an awesome group here. It's fun learning about you guys.

Me?
I am a mom to 3 (my husband and my 2 kids). LOL, just kidding Keith. I'm married to the GREATEST husband in the world - I had to write that or he would have edited my post and put that in anyway, right? Really, I do think Keith is amazing and I am really grateful for him.

I love my kids. I have a 3 year old girl and a 6 year old boy (in Kindergarten). My kids are brilliant and cute... just ask me and I'll tell you :)

I love to hike, ski, scuba dive, swim, and travel. I hate to cook and do yard work. I don't mind cleaning but somehow it rarely gets finished. That is one of my biggest frustrations with myself.

When I read I like stories that will inspire me. I love self-help books. When I have time to myself I like to watch movies. When I travel I prefer going places to experience the culture rather than a resort. I like to camp a lot too. When I'm camping I LOVE to sleep under the stars without a tent. My favorite color is a greyish blue and my favorite number is 4.

As far as scrapbooking goes. I have loved it since I was 10.

Well I kind of intoduced myself a post or two ago, but not really in detail. OK, first things first....I HATE COOKING and RUNNING!!!!! There, I don't think there should be any confusion about that. I too like a clean orderly house but I figure if I spend my free time cleaning, then in 10 years my house will still be messy. But if I scrapbook, then in 10 years I will have a messy house and a freakin awesome album to show off!!

I am 25, and I have a freakin' awesome husband and two cute girls. I've had several miscarriages and so we adopted our first girl, Regan, who everybody says looks just like my husband. I then got pregnant when she was 4 months and had another girl, Sophie, a month early. So they are 12.75 months apart.

I am from Arizona but have lived in UT for about 7 yrs. I love to read, play sports, watch movies, play games, put together puzzles, do crafts, crochet, and I'm starting to get into photography. I just got a DSLR camera and I'm trying to figure it out so I can take halfway decent pictures of my family.

I work one day a week as a dental hygienist and my husband is putting a portfolio together to get into architecture school. So we might be heading up to the U of U next fall.

There was something else really cool to tell you but I can't think of it just now....

I figure if I spend my free time cleaning, then in 10 years my house will still be messy. But if I scrapbook, then in 10 years I will have a messy house and a freakin awesome album to show off!! NOW this is T-shirt worthy.

I loved my weight training classes in high school!! sorry Brittany, i'm not a runner:(! i wish i was, but it's never been in me!! Maybe if i would have gotten my dads genes. oh, I'm Kelli West! Only 1 child, i mean, no children, and 1 adorable husband who i love! january 7th will be our 3 year anniversary! I love my family, and always want to be close to them. I am the 2nd child out of 4, and we all have RED HAIR!! 2 girls, 2 boys! In that order! I grew up around horses, dogs, cats, chickens, goats, and only 1 cow for a brief period of time (we then later saw that cow on our plates)! and sadly enough I am alergic to ALL of them!! I love to dance, sing, scrapbook, take pictures, and hang out with my friends!! I am horrible at making decisions, and sometimes i let my fear rule my actions (i am working on that)!! I love meeting new people and making new friends. I consider myself outgoing, and playful! In the color test i took in high school i was 15 blue, 14 white, 7 yellow and 2 red! I am not a very dominant person!! I love chick flicks, and action packed explosion movies!! My favorite TV shows are BONES, and SUPERNATURAL! My husband told me if he dies the only person I can remarry is Jensen Ackles (he is one of the main actors in supernatural)!! I found that all pretty funny! I love my nephews, and cant wait to start a family of my own! I hope that all helped you to get to know me a little bit more....:cheer:oh, and i was a cheerleader for 2 years in Jr. High!!:cantBreathe:

Brittany, sorry to say, I have to agree with Kelli. I think some people are runners and some people aren't. I'm a swimmer!! I love to swim, even swimming laps as exercise. I think the high impact of running is what I really don't like. Swimming is low impact which is great for my poor joints...I have horrible ankles and knees. Plus, there's just something about the freedom I feel in water...almost like being able to defy gravity a little bit. I also wish I was a runner, but I don't think I would ever give up my swimming.

I'm not a biker chick, but that would be freakin awesome! Swimming is great too. Very low impact. Running is hard for me because I have fallen arches, shin splints, and chondromalasia in my knees (i.e. the cartilage is breaking down in my knees) so they ache alot. That is from many years of being a catcher in softball. So I don't even wish I were a runner.

Okay, I have loved reading about everyone else, so I guess I will tell you all a little about me. My name is Lana I have been married to my DH for 7 1/2 years and am a SAHM with 3 kids: 5 1/2 boy, 2 almost 3 little girl, almost 11 mo. old boy, and pregnant with another boy, end of May. I like to digital scrapbook. I started out with Creating Keepsakes and have just recently started learning adobe photoshop elements. I think it is going to take me a long while to learn, but I guess I need to be patient. I know I won't go back to scrapbooking the (old) way, takes up too much room and is messy. I also like to read, sleep (when the others are napping) crochet, camping (in a trailer) sleeping in a tent with 3 kids, I don't think so. I wish I could say I like to clean or run like you others, but I'll stick to walking and a messy house. I wish I were one of those that was born liking to clean, but I wasn't.
Oh, another thing. My mom kind of introduced Keith and April. She worked with April and Keith grew up two houses away from me, so she had known him since he was a baby. Thought that the two of them would make a great couple and obviously they did.
I like this website and one of these days plan on attending a class so that I can get lost and maybe learn more about digital scrapbooking!

I guess I will go. My name is Jill and I will be 30 years old TOMORROW!!!!! (Jan 3) This birthday has been a bit of a tough one for me. Anyone with some good turning 30 blues remedies?
I have been married to my highschool sweetheart for 10 years and I have 4 kids, three boys 7, 5 and almost 3 and a new baby girl born November 30th. I stay at home with them and occasionally teach classes for April which I love. My kids are great and VERY active so that is how I get my exercise, but when the weather is warm I love to go walking and I miss those days. (Angie if you read this, I am counting the days till we can go walking again!)
I also love a clean house and cleaning is one of my favorite things to do. (and I really mean that.) I like photography and pretending I know what I am doing when I take pictures.
I am a huge music buff and I love to sing along with any and all broadway show tunes.
I love to be outside if it is warm. I cannot stand the cold. I love the mountians but I HATE to camp. Give me a hotel anyday. I think I would like to travel, but I havn't been anywhere really exciting so I don't know for sure.

That's about it. Hope your days are happy ones!

PS does this thing have a spell check?

Jill,
I didn't know that you liked to clean. Can you please pass some of that my way? That is why your house is always spotless when I come over. I am very jealous. Maybe I am just lazy, I don't know.
Jamie,
Yay, maybe you can give me some pointers on photoshop sometime, I am more of a hands on person.

I guess I missed a bunch of these postings. It was fun to go back and read them though. I KNOW you don't have to be a born runner. you know those girls in middle school who compained for months about running the mile and the mile and a half in gym? I was the biggest complainer of them all. My friend convinced me to do a 5K with her and I trained for two weeks (well I guess I ran about 5 times) and then ran the race. It was so addicting and I have never quit running since. It is the best feeling to come close to the finish line and see and hear your kids cheering you on. Running is quite an emotional thing I must say. I cry every time I cross the finish line.

By the way, I was not born a cleaner either.

Jill, I'm turning 30 this year as well, so if anyone gives you any advice to ward off the 30 year old blues, let me know. I never thought I would be so freaked out about it, but I am!!

Brittany, that's very inspirational. Maybe there's hope for me being a runner someday. I still don't think so, but I loved your story. Maybe I should try running in a race to possibly change my mind.

I have GREAT news for you girls--DON'T WORRY ABOUT TURNING THIRTY!!! it only gets you closer to 40. I'm telling you 40 was my best year--Women are at their PRIME at 40. YOU REALLY HAVE SOMETHING TO LOOK FORWARD TO--SERIOUSLY!!!!

Alyson
01-03-2008, 02:36 PM
Thanks Kim! That's good to know. I hope that's how it is for me, because I just want to get better with age. :)

I think what really gets me is the fact that I have no kids, and I know I still have time, but it doesn't appear that I'll have that opportunity anytime in the near future. Plus, I don't know if I'm able to have kids. My ex and I were trying for 3 years and never had any luck (even on fertility drugs). I've mostly come to terms with this, so I guess I can stop my "poor me" rant now.

I'll just be the coolest aunt in the world and take my nieces and nephews on trips and buy them cool things. I think I can live with that. :) And if I am lucky enough to have a baby (or babies) somday, I'll be that much more grateful.

Kim, thanks for the encouragement. You are such a sweetheart!! Yes, my ex and I are still friends. I'm glad we didn't have a nasty divorce. We split all our belongings ourselves and only had to get one lawyer to do the whole court thing. He sent me his old PS2 (playstation 2), not CS2 (as in photoshop). I thought it was very nice of him to send that, because I had a couple of games that he gave me when we were married and no game console to play them on.
