my daughter would LOVE a digital camera and i've just starting researching the more inexpensive point and shoot ones. she's 10...and i hate to spend too much as the camera could be misplaced, etc. she'd love a pink one, as pink is her favorite color, but i'd rather purchase one that is a good consumer purchase, one that i would love to sneak in my purse at amusement park trips, etc when i pass on taking my 30d, and still get decent images. any suggestions?

Do you have any that you have kind of narrowed it down to? Age 10 is tough, probably old enough to take care of it, and "be careful", but also old enough to forget and leave it out in the rain.

My parents have one of these

Not the best photos, but digital, and for $26 you could get a couple of them. It would be a "real camera" and not like the ones from the walmart toy isle.

I also see lots of companies selling camera for around $100. Here is an example

That honestly is a an amazing price for a camera of that quality. Probably not going to take much abuse, but what you are getting for the price is going to be hard to beat.

Does that help? From a quick look I did not see much between those two. But that Canon would make a great second camera to take on your trips.

I've tried lots of Cannons and I've really liked them all!

i went with the canon powershot 560...this way it was fairly inexpensive, and yet when we go to an amusement park, etc i can play a bit too. without lugging my big thing around!

A little off subject but...I bought my 2 year old a Fisher Price digital camera for Christmas. He loves it. The pictures are not good quality at all, but he has so much fun with it. I had to get him something so that he would leave my camera alone. I am in the process of scrapping his first pictures. Some are fuzzy, some are of peoples feet...but at least he is having fun with it!

My mother gave those little Fisher Price cameras to the grandkids and they loved them! Yeah they are the quality of a poor camera phone or worse, but the kids love them.

My son too! So far he has a picture of his sisters eyeball (he was a LITTLE close) and one of my behind! I don't have control over the pictures he takes, but I do have control over the ones anyone else sees ;)

I gave those fisher price cameras to my niece and nephew this year. They are having a blast walking around taking pictures of everything...including peanut butter sandwiches. I can't wait to make pages of their first pictures. I took a picture of each of them using the cameras, so that will be the main picture on the page (since the others will be low quality).

Cameron tried to take pictures of my mom in the shower. Like Alishaw said I can control the ones other people see. When I moved his pictures to my 300 res. page they were pretty small. I used the film strip. I am almost done. I'll post it today. Let me know how everyone else scraps these tiny pics. I will be needing some new ideas.
