Okay, persistance does payoff! I have been asking for a DSLR for over a year now & my husband finally listen, or remembered or both. Now I am freaking out because I want to know everything about it...Now! I have been reading and watching tutorials and things but I do much better learning hands on. I LOVE classes. So I am calling to anyone who knows any good classes or teachers. I have the rebel xti. They don't have to be free & the more options the better. I am also in Utah County which isn't a huge deal but if you know any down here, that would be a little easier. Thanks a bunch!:o

the book Understanding Exposure by Bryan Peterson is great - it gives illustrated examples and tells you what to do to achieve certain looks. You can get this book at Borders, etc. and it's about $30.

I keep meaning to buy that book.
In Salt Lake I know www.PixelsFoto.com teaches classes as well as www.pictureline.com. Both have retail stores.
I will second the Understanding Exposer book. I too knew nothing about what I was doing when I got my camera and it helped me a lot. Mostly trial and error and lots and lots of "photo shoots." That helped me get a feel of what it can really do. They are awesome! Have fun with it, you will love it.

Understanding Exposure is a HUGE help! Very well written and easy to understand, also I've learned so much from www.ilovephotography.com
Just reading post after post on there has helped me learn so much, people are really helpful on the JSO (just starting out) board.
Congratulations and good luck!

I've heard great things about Pictureline in Salt Lake. April mentioned them. I've been to the store and like it, but I have never been to their classes. I know the sales person I talked to said they are free even if you don't buy your camera from them.

That's nice of them to offer free classes.

I just emailed you, Brit! :)
I definitely recommend Understanding Exposure....I got one on Amazon.com for under $20. It's so clearly explained and I referred to it often when I first got my camera. In fact, I should read it again and brush up on the info. And I also let you know about the free Pictureline classes (my cousin works there and is super nice and helpful)...
ILovePhotography.com is also a great site.
Congrats, again!!!! Hooray for you! :)
