For anyone who is new, we post pictures and info for layouts, then someone else scraps them for us! It's fun to see different styles and techniques.

Post your pictures by Sunday, January 6 at 10:00 PM. You'll download and do a page for the person who posted pictures just above you. Be sure to include: photos, journaling, dates, and your preferred size (12X12, 8.5X11, etc).

You'll need to post the finished layout by Sunday, January 13, at 10:00 PM.

No way! They can be any pictures at all. If you are trying to get caught up, post old ones. If you are stuck with one you just took, post it. If you have a photo of yourself (which are the hardest to scrap) do it! Whatever you want!

I want to put my pics on but I too am intimidated to do Alishaw's as well! She is always amazing and I have never done a lo with only one picture! I am willing to try anything once though!

Jamie, I love that picture of your family. You gals are all so talented. Honestly, I am a bit nervous to join and I don't know which pictures I would use, because I have so many of them. For my birthday this week I have asked for Adobe Photoshop elements 6 (the full version) I am using a trial right now. I am hoping once it is on our faster computer (the one hooked to the internet) that I might be able to figure it out better. Hey Jamie, would you come take some pictures of our family? We haven't had any decent ones done since my daughter was almost one so we need some before the new baby comes with Jacob in them. I promise I will try and join next month.

Here are my photos. I am not good at journaling, so here is the story and you can say it how you think it sounds best. This was Jackson's 6th birthday party. It was a great outdoors party. We had tents all over the backyard, had potoato bug olympics, learned to tie knots and went fishing. The kids caught gold fish and took them home. We roasted hotdogs in the firepit in the backyard. We ate the campfire cake and did presents. All the kids had fun.

TA DA! Liz, here's what I came up with... I hope you like it! I left a big space for all of your journaling (I hope not too big). Also I just used the low res pictures, so if you send me the high res I'll put them in... or you could just place them over top of the ones I did, but that might be a little trickier. And if there is anything you want me to add, subtract, or change, just let me know!

I just have to say, these pictures were SO FUN to scrap! :) My son kept asking who you guys were, and he thought those trucks were SO COOL, lol!

Alisha, are the inked edges on the journaling blocks an action? I probably have that action and haven't ever used it!

Ok...so I'm going to try to explain how I did the blending. This "tutorial" should be credited to Quinn though because she is the one that taught me. All I did was drag the picture onto the paper and then took a big brush eraser at a lower opacity and erased around the edges so it gives it that fuzzy, blended look and then you use the luminiosity blending tool thats part of that list on the top of your layers palette.

Britt, thanks for asking! We just got settled in Sedona and now I'm back online and going strong. Luckily we brought old arcade games for the boys, so I'm playing while they're playing. It's amazing here!

As far as actions go I try to use mine sometimes and it says that it can't work because there isn't a copy or something...I don't know what that is about?

Amy, I just hold down the ctrl button and click on the thumbnail of the layer that I want to use the action on. This should make a selection of just that layer, and that should work. I still sometimes get a pop-up, and I can't remember what it says because it's been too long since I've used an action, but I just click okay or yes to continue. I hope that helps.

Oh, and if it's a text layer or shape layer you may have to rasterize it first. And...I think you have to have the layer highlighted as well.

YES! Alyson is right. You have to have it rasterized (simplified) and then I just always highlight the layer and ctrl-click the thumbnail to select it all. Then run the action.

What is rasterized? I have never heard that and I am having the same problem as Amy.

Theresa, rasterize simplifies the layer. You have to do it to text layers in order to do certain things to that layer. The only problem is, after you rasterize it, you can't change the text or font anymore because it won't be a text layer anymore. I just right click on the layer and click 'rasterize' in the menu that pops up.

In elements it's right click on the layer and click simplify. makes all the difference with these actions.
