Take a picture of something yellow and post it by January 16th.

I did challenges like this on a photography board years ago and it was so much fun. It's really interesting what people came up with.

Who wants to play?

You don't NEED to scrap it. I doubt I will. I haven't even thought of what I'll take the picture of yet but that's part of the fun *looking for yellow* everywhere you go.

This is a fun idea, I don't have an amazing camera but I would love to try and find something yellow in all of this white to take a picture of.

Cute Avatar Jamie!

Hey Jill, you have a new avatar too!! I like it!!! So fun and cute!

April
01-09-2008, 05:08 PM
Done :) Actually, I had a different idea. I was going to go take a picture of one of my grandma's glass chickens, but I had time to do this while playing with my kids today, so I did it! It would be cool with new crayons.

I'm amazed how easy it is to get this blur with my 50 mm lens. All I did was turn my camera to aperature mode, slide the aperature to 1.8, point and shoot.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v473/oakapr/yellowLR.jpg

BTW - did I steal anyone else's idea for crayons? If so you could always shoot the crayons a different way. It was the first yellow thing I saw.

Count me in. I don't see much yellow around here but I am sure that I can find something!

Alyson
01-09-2008, 08:06 PM
April, that's a really cool picture! Way to set the bar high. I don't have any ideas yet, so you didn't steal my idea. I don't have any crayons in the house anyway, so I wouldn't have even thought of crayons.

I looked ALL DAY for something Yellow--this is a challenge! I'll keep trying.

April
01-10-2008, 11:08 AM
I don't really have anything yellow in my house either. I hope yellow wasn't too hard of a color in the dead of winter.

LucyLu

I had a yellow room once... goodness it was so brite it was scary... so now it is purple...

Yellow is a challenge but that is what makes it fun.

No, April, this is just what we needed in the dead of winter--some kind of sunshine. Yellow will do it--just look at Jill's picture--it's cheery. This is fun.

April
01-10-2008, 02:13 PM
Jill, I'm so impressed with that picture. The composition is incredible! Wowzers! Do you have those in your house???

Jill
01-10-2008, 02:55 PM
Jane, I love that! Very nice! It makes me want some lemonaide.

April- they were in my house, but they just got chucked this morning. I did this all while two little boys played Sonic the Hedgehog.:) Thanks for the nice words, that make me feel really super!

I love all the pictures! I want to do this too, but I'm pretty new to DSLR photography so watch out! Oh, it might help me if you know the specifics of how you shot the picture...i.e aperture, ISO, ect.

LucyLu

great pictures girls

Alyson
01-10-2008, 07:07 PM
Jill, those are beautiful flowers and you captured an excellent picture of them!
Jane, LEMONS!! You are brilliant! I still haven't thought of anything...I guess all the white outside is overwhelming me. I really love how you captured the reflection as well!
Kristal, don't worry about that. I don't even have a DSLR, so if I ever find something yellow to take a pic of, it won't be an amazing shot...unless I get lucky.

Kelly
01-10-2008, 08:11 PM
Technically, I did not take the picture... however, I did create this masterpirce online at www.miniusa.com
Dang. I should've never traded out of my mini cooper. I miss him.
This is "bumble" (like a bee!)- maybe I can talk Scotty into buying me another one... hmmmmmmmmm...
Isn't he cute?!?!? :)

I have been in California for the last week and a half on vacation. We had a great time! I happen to take these pictures at the park while I was there. The first was my little one with the slide, he makes silly faces all the time. The second had more yellow in it with my nephew.

Great pictures Alex and lanz!!! They look awesome!

April
01-15-2008, 04:45 PM
Alex, way to be part of the challenge without even knowing it. I'm so glad you had fun! Good for you!!!

Lanz, your picture has good composition (good job). That's hard for a lot of people. Can I give you a mini photography class right now? If you were to take the giraffe closer to a window and turn off your flash I think it would have turned out a lot better. I try to avoid using my flash if possible or if I do have to use it I stand way back and zoom in so the flash doesn't reflect off my subject too much. Natural lighting is the only light I'm good with so that's all I know.
