View Full Version : Advanced Class Suggestions

A while back we talked about doing specific advanced classes to fine tune our skills and introduce new techniques.
I'm looking to get those classes scheduled, but I want them to be things YOU want to learn. I have a long list, but I know we have covered quite of few of them in our regular forum chats and I want to include new stuff too.
SOOOO.... let's post suggestions again for what tutorials you would like to see done in these classes. Anything from photo correction or the specific use of a tool, or a technique you've seen on a layout-ANYTHING and we'll teach it! (well, almost anything )

I think photo editing techniques would be AWESOME...
Also a whole class on brushes - there is so much there...
Specifics of drop shadows, maybe even including how to create your own? I just see this asked about a lot on the forum.
I'd love a more in depth look at different blending modes, and what all you can do w/ them...
Hmm, that's all I can think of off the top of my head. I'll post more if I think of any. I think this is a great idea!

Thank you. I know someone who does them (she is not sharing her secrets) and she has some lines going through the photo to make it look even older. Any tips? maybe I will take a picture of hers and post it.

I think it was Quinn that posted a pic a while ago from the Manti Temple that had a really cool effect, too. Yep, I found it here: http://forum.digitalscrapbookmemories.com/showthread.php?t=3305 I'd love to learn that as well.

I would like to learn how to make my paper and ribbons look like they are folded. I can never get the shadowing right.

Lisa, I posted a folded paper tutorial on my blog a while back. It may help you out. There are different ways to do the shadowing, but this is what worked best for me. Go to this link (http://innucescrapbook.blogspot.com/2007/11/tutorial-folded-corner.html).

hi...I was searching around the forum for information on Brushes, and I would like to know a little more about them. EX: what are the differences when chosing between a brush and a .png?
Also, been doing some research on actions. They look pretty cool, maybe a good class would be on installing and using...I have found quite a bit of info on installing, but sometimes it helps to walk through?

At the retreat Alishaw was so great to teach me how to use brushes. I was so excited to use it in some pages I am working on and now, I can't get it to work. I want to make a brush out of text. So I typed the text the way and size I wanted it and then simplified it. Selected it and created a new layer. I am not sure what i am doing wrong but when I go to my edit>define brushes, it is not a choice. It will let me do it as a pattern, but not a brush. I looked in previous threads to see if that helped, and it didn't. Can you all help me?? Thanks so much!
Hey this is sort of what I have been looking into. What is the benefit of having a font as a brush? or word art?
