View Full Version : March Scrap Challenge

So for March I thought we'd mix up the ScrapSwap a bit and do something different...

We often scrap all the great moments in our lives, but what about those boring, everyday, not-so-great things? Bad hair days, cleaning bathrooms, nail biting habit, letting laundry pile up, whatever!!

So for March let's do a page featuring something we dislike doing or a pet peeve or a characteristic of ourselves we need to work on. I don't want this to sound like a negative page, just an insightful page into something we don't often scrap about.

Let's take the whole month to work on it and post them here.

Great idea... I always think I need to do more of these "everyday" type pages, and ones that are more about me, but I never seem to get to it. This is a great opportunity! And I can't wait to see what everyone creates.

Jessica you must be dang-near perfect if you knew exactly what you wanted to do so soon! I will need all month to write all my imperfections down and choose one!!

You too Kelli!

I'm very excited to see the creativity and pages that come out of this.

ok, so here is my LO!! It's nothing too fancy, it's where I work!! I spend 5 days a week there!!! Oh, and I have worked there for waaaaaay too long (6 years)!!

Kelli West
03-02-2008, 12:35 AM
ok, so I just realized something!!! I reread this and realized my LO has nothing to do with that. It's just my crazy days at work that I am getting tired of! So let me do another one. Until then, you can all look at my page!

Kelli West
03-02-2008, 10:38 AM
but seriously, EVERYONE knows me by being the "JUICE PRESS GIRL"!!! I was at the stadium of fire one time, and these 2 ladies came up to me and said, "we can't figure out where we know you from, and it's killing us!!" I then told them that I work at Juice Press, and they were like "oh yeah, your the Juice Press girl!" SO yeah, that is who I am!!

Shellie

I used to go to Jamba Juice every day. They had my drink made before I even ordered. Then I got pregnant and was sick all the time so I stopped going. It had been a year later and a I was in a restaurant with my family and a girl walked up to me who used to work there. She remembered my name and everything! lol

I have always known that smoking was bad. I have been smoking since I was a sophomore in college (2002).

I have a good quote to live by:

"Just because you take the alcohol out of the house, it doesn't make you NOT an alcoholic."

The temptation is there. I will always be "a smoker". But that doesn't mean I'm going to actually smoke.

As of March 1st, 2008 - I'm free from smoking.

And it feels GREAT!

it just depends on the day. We have potato bacon, broccoli & Cheese, chicken noodle, and on vary rare occasions Clam chowder! Soup we sell mainly in the winter, and only do about 1 or 2 kinds a day. The wraps and sandwhiches are what we sell alot of (besides smoothies of course)!!! Sorry no rolls and honey butter!! We are a "healthy' place!

Jessica GOOD FOR YOU!! You are doing awesome!
I quit smoking cold turkey last december after a year of smoking and its the best thing I have ever done for myself and my family......and everyone around me. haha

Just a quick helpful hint. Get a ton of cranberry juice and start drinking 8-12 oz or more of it a day. When your blood sugar level is low in your brain thats when the cravings come around. When you smoked there was a chemical in teh nicotine that immediatly satisifes the blood sugar levels in your brain. So when you stop smoking that instant satisfaction is taken away. Cranberry juice is the fastest delivery of sugar to your brain to raise the blood sugar levels in turn making the cravings not as intese if at all. I would drink it regulary for the first three to five days and then after that taper off since it is so high in sugar you dont want to gain that weight.
Also another helpful hint, the reason why people get so hungry and eat so much and so fast until that craving goes away is the reason for the fast weight gain after quitting smoking. Just remember that it takes 20 mintues for the food in your stomach to reach your brain and raise the blood sugar levels. I found that getting scientifical facts about the acutally bodily reactions to all things smoking is the best way to go. LEt me know if there is anything I can help u out with!!
I promise your going to do great!

ok here is mine! haha.:cantBreathe:
This is what the tag says...This is my kithen in its natural state after dinner.
The problem with this picture is that my kitchen
stayes this messy until 1 or 2 am or the following
morning, Unless my husband decides that its annoying
him or somehow I find some secret energy to clean it.
This is my downfall. Now you all know and there is
no reason to hold onto this page because I have not
yet accepted that I am lazy after dinner time!!

thankyou Kelli... here is what is says ... hope you are feeling better

In 2008 I need to seriously work on my weight, and eating the right kinds of foods. I need to use my two gym memberships, and the exercise equipment that I have at home. I need to see the numbers on the scale go ever smaller. Not only because it will make me look and feel better, but because it will enhance the quality of my life and well as the quantity. Making this public knowledge has increased my desire to finally really work on this goal. Yes, I have been working on it for several years but have not made any real significant progress. So here is a toast to a thinner more healthy me in 2008.

Alyson
03-16-2008, 06:50 PM

This is my first scrap challenge! Hope this is where you meant for me to post it. It's not that I HATE doing laundry, it just never seems to end. The journaling reads:

"Here at my house we have a magic laundry hamper...no matter how many times you empty it, more dirty clothes appear.

We also have a sock eating dryer and clothes hangers that tangle themselves up at night while we are sleeping.

And I don’t like those new little laundry care symbols
...I can never remember what they mean.

And the ironing...let’s not forget the ironing!"

That's me in the washer....

Elsie

Kim, that is an awesome page. Around my house, it's not hand prints on the windows, it's BIRD prints. We live out in the woods and the poor birds fly into our windows all the time (or peck at them, thinking they are fighting off their refection). Luckily, the majority fly away.

This is my first time posting a page so hopefully it works. :o I found this challenge quite inspiring. For me... my everyday challenge is mud on my floors. I wasn't feeling too hot today so I sent my three girls out back to play. I heard a lot of giggling and slamming of doors so I came downstairs to check on them this is what I found. They had gotten a pitcher of warm water (because the hose was too cold) and created a mud-bath for their feet. Mud marks the beginning of Spring for me, and it's a constant battle at my house.

My page is about messy stuff too. I wish I was better at keeping my house tidy and eliminating clutter. I want to have a magazine-ready home... you know one of those that you would see in Better Homes and Gardens or something. It's not happening anytime soon... I call it a beautiful mess though because even though the time I spend neglecting it is time well spent, and I wouldn't change it. I just need more hours in the day. Everything is DSM except the little tag and the stamped journaling lines.

I love these pages. I especially like the laundry page. That is my biggest problem and what I am going to do my page on if I get time. It is so fun to see all the different styles and problems.

Sarah, that is beautiful. Your girls will love that you scrapped about that when they look at the album in a few years.
Lynette, I need tips from you! Your pages are so creative and beautiful! If I had just 1/4 of your creative mind I'd be happy.

I too have boys, a dog and lots of mud. But unfortuantly I also have carpet!! Not a really good combo.

I have never really checked this section out. I have been missing some fun things. What fun ideas ya'll have.

We're getting hardwood in the main traffic areas because of our great dane. I'd rather mop then have to vacuum then clean the carpet then vacuum again.

Here's mine. It's my second digi scrapbook page. It's about laundry, too. This was a fun challenge because I never would have thought to do a page about laundry! I hate laundry!

Thanks for all the nice comments. I have spent the entire week trying to figure out things in Photoshop (one thing leads to another...started out just trying to figure out how to make text in a circle...finally succeeded today...trick seems to be you have to use a lot of keyboard shortcuts; things don't appear in menus). Guess what DIDN'T get done? You're right...the LAUNDRY!

Angie, that is a great page!! do be hatin on your self!! My friend is shy, and the other day at enrichment i was talking (like i always do) and then i apologized to her for talking to much (i felt like i was just going on and on) and she told me that it was refreshing to talk to me becuase she is shy and has a hard time coming up with conversations, and like the fact that i can keep talking! so just find someone that talks a lot! lol..i'm retarded!!! :)

This swap has been so fun and you girls have come up with a lot of my pet peeves too! Laundry for sure, cluttered desk--mine's clean for one to two days and then it's a mess. Angie, don't be shy, just like Kristal says, "We're so glad you're here" Talk (type) away.

Great pages girls. Keep them coming. I'm looking forward to seeing yours Alyson.

Susie,
I get that clutter around the computer too. The kids seem to think that is where everything goes when they are asked to clean up!

Thanks everyone for the nice comments on my layout. I was a little nervous to post it.

Angie and Peetie great pages. I could take a picture of my whole house for this challenge. I have the hardest time keeping up on things. I just try and take it one day at a time. I also hate laundry. My daughter is probably the worst of the mess makers around our house. She's only three, but give her anything and she will make a mess out of it. She will help clean it up though, so that is a good thing. I am finally learning that there are a lot of things around the house that I do, that can be done by the kids. I have finally started letting my five year old clean the bathroom. Of course, I sit there and watch him do it, but he is learning to do a great job. I have also told him that next week while he is off of school he is going to help me clean the inside of the fridge. Something I haven't done in forever and needs to get done. If I offer him money he will definately be motivated to do a good job.

FINALLY got mine done. I did mine on all those little naggy conversations we have OVER & OVER & OVER again in my house. They are quite comical since I think we nag out of habit now and not true bother.

Hey Kim, I've been pretty busy lately, and I had company this weekend. I haven't even gotten on the computer except to check my e-mail for 4 days. I don't think I'll be able to get the challenge done by today, but maybe I can post one in April. Thanks for being concerned about me. :D

Alishaw, your page is so cute!! I love the idea of He said, She said.
