Hi all! My name is Amy and I live in Farmington, UT. I was at Sam's Club 2 days ago and bumped into a very nice and helpful person while we were trying to figure out how to print something from our thumb drives. Anyway, we got to talking about digital scrapbooking and she told me about this wonderful forum! So, thanks, Lanz, I know I'll just love it here!

Anyway, I have 3 darling kids. 10, 7, and 2. I have never had a desire to do traditional scrapbooking because it's expensive and messy, but I would like to do something more with my pictures than have them in a cardboard box. A few months ago I heard about digital scrapbooking and thought that sounded like something I could really get into. I have not made any pages yet because I'm working on decorating my craft room, but as soon as that's over, I will be starting. My husband does visualization for work, so he has all the fun programs that I can use for this, plus he knows Photoshop inside and out, so I'll have lots of help. And, you all seem so friendly and helpful, I really shouldn't have a problem. Now just wait until I start into all this, and you'll see how extremely optimistic I am with my abilities! :yep: But, we'll give it a try.

So, that's a little intro about me. I feel like I already know many of you because I have been reading your posts. I have met Lanz, so that practically makes me family, doesn't it? ;)

Yay Lanz for recruiting new people at Costco (edited...whoops, I mean Sams club)!!!

Peetie, welcome to the forums! We are so excited to have you here and can't wait until you can get started making pages and sharing them with us! It will be really nice for you to have a hubby that can help out with photoshop! You should get him scrapping too. ;) I hope you love it here as much as we do!

Welcome Amy! I always run into people at Costco and try to be a "digi missionary". Ha ha! :) If you have any questions, this is a fabulous place to ask!

Wow! I feel so overwhelmed and welcomed. I posted, and then left for a couple hours and came back to all of you being so nice. Thanks!

I like the whole "digi missionary" thing! That's cute.

I'm sure my husband will be doing the scrapbooking thing, at least for a while, so he can show me exactly what to do. I think he's excited to teach me Photoshop, so he can tell me what to do for once, it's usually the other way around! Hee Hee

Welcome Peetie! It was great running into you at Sam's Club and telling you about this wonderful website. I was able to download some of my pages at Sam's Club the same day from home and they turned out great, I was very excited. Hey, what are you doing tonight. You could go to a digiscrapbook party with me, it's also Alyson's Birthday! It's in Draper and we will have to leave about 6:00. I'll drive, of course. Let me know.

Oh Lanz, that was be so much fun! Unfortunately, I have already committed to going to my nephew's soccer game in Woods Cross. He made the HS team for Olympus and has his first game tonight. Darn it! If I hadn't already promised the kids, I would definitely go with you instead. Maybe we could go to lunch or something soon instead, or you could come to my house and we could let the kids play together.

I'm glad your pages turned out. I would love to see them!

Peetie, Oh Darn! That would have been so fun. I would love to go to lunch or come hang at your house with the kids. My son and daughter love playing with other kids. Hope you have a great time at the soccer game tonight with your kids. I'll PM you my phone number and we will definately have to plan a play date soon!

Welcome Peetie. We will miss you tonight, but going to a soccer game is really fun too.

03-05-2008, 05:55 PM
Yes, soccer games are fun, but this one is outdoors and it's still a little chilly to enjoy the outdoors in the evening. We're bundling up, but I'm planning on getting some pictures that I can scrapbook! I love the bundled up, freezing kind of pictures. Yes, I'm odd.

Lana, that would be great! Sammy, my almost 3 year old, loves play dates! He gets kind of bored during the day, or we could do it after school or on the weekend and let all the kids play. BTW, are you from Clearfield? I was born and raised in Syracuse, that's why I'm wondering. I graduated from Clearfield High.

Anyway, you kids have fun tonight! Hee Hee Don't do anything I wouldn't do, which pretty much leaves it open! JK

Soccer game? Is all your snow gone? Or is it indoors?
BTW, welcome Amy. There's no better place to go with your questions. If you ask some they'll have less chance to get sick of mine.:p

Hi Reconwife! Great to have you here. Just remember there are no dumb questions. Most likely if you do ask a question we'll answer it really quick which will make you wonder if it was a dumb question but it's not! Some of the simplest things in Photoshop are kind of hard to figure out on your own so take advantage of us and let us help. I think a lot of us like to help because we all had to have help when we started too. Good luck with your class!!!

Welcome Reconwife.....You will love this forum, you will feel like you have a big circle of girlfriends....BTW my husband is also stationed at 29 Palms....at the hospital. I go visit him as often as I can and stay for a couple of weeks. Would love to meet you next time I am there....unfortunately it won't be until the beginning of May....
Again, welcome to the forum...I would offer to answer any scraping or photoshop questions....but I wouldn't be much help....would classify myself as a beginner....but love it, and am motivated to improve.

I'm cool with getting together during the day (after son gets out of school). Just give me a jingle and we will set it up. Hope you didn't freeze at the soccer game last night! Have a good one!

Leave it to Alisha to start thinking about Christmas. I bet she is halfway done with her Christmas shopping and in another month she will be playing Christmas songs. Am I right?

Reconwife, my best friend growing up moved to 29 palms with her husband. He is a doctor there. PM me and I will ask you if you know her. Her first name is Whitney.

I'm glad to hear you all had a good time at the party last night. We did freeze, but the kids had fun. I think we're all ready to be outside more. In fact, Sam, my almost 3 year old and I had a picnic on the porch today for lunch. It sure is a beautiful day!

Lanz, I got your PM and I replied.

Thanks again, everyone, for the warm welcome! I really think I could get comfortable here!

Oh, and welcome Reconwife. We can both be new together!

Guess what Brittany....I know Whitney!!! Just saw her a couple of weeks ago, with her cute new baby....her husband is an OB-GYN in the Navy and my husband is a CRNA (does anesthesia, epiderals, etc.) so they work together almost every day....you probably already know, but Bill was just called as the Bishop in their ward....small world.

Very small world. Her dad just told my mom that the day it happened. Tell her hi for me and tell her to send pics of her new baby. I have known her since we were 5 I think. It has been forever. I have met Bill at their wedding, but they moved after so that was the only chance I had to know him.

2 new girls--Welcome.

Tracy, it's good to see you again.

Well, actually 3 new girls..........I'm new here also. I have never done digital scrapping either, and I hope I did'nt over spend on something I don't have a clue about. I bought the Adobe Elements 6......No Clue!......and I also bought this Digital Srapbook Memories 2 to go with it and it won't do anythingl. So, I REALLY! don't have a clue. I hope you girls serious about being to help, cause I gotta a feeling I'm gonna be real "needy". By the way, my name is Joyce and I have 2 girls (8 & 1o) They are actually my granddaughters, & I have custody of them. Yes, starting all over again..........whew......Oh and I'm not a computer moron, but I may be close. I learn really quick though! Sorry......I'm done babbling!!!

Welcome, Welcome Joyce--this will be your next best invest of life--next to your kids and grandkids :) There's a lot of good help here on the forum. Just ask the questions and the answers will come. I think the best way to start would be to watch April's tutorials on her CD's or get signed up for Alishaw's beginning class--March 22nd.

Thank You! I just went and registered for it. I'm pretty excited. I hope it helps me work my program. From the way some people are talking, the Adobe Elements 6 is pretty hard to use and I should've started out with something a little less complicated.

it's not too hard. You just need to get the basics down, and from there it makes it easier to understand how it all works!

Well, thank you all for the advice and the welcomings. I just got back from Target. I bought, what I thought would be an easier program for just starting out. Scrapbook Factory Deluxe 4.0...................It won't go into my computer. It says Windows can't read the disk. It may be corrupted or it may not be compatible with my windows, or something. But, I have XP, like it said I needed. Oh my! I think I'm not doing so well already. I wrote to Nova, the company that makes this thing. "I told you guys I was needy!" What now? EEEk!!!!

Shellie
03-09-2008, 10:47 PM
I used Scrapbook Factory Deluxe and I have XP. I liked the program okay for starting, but found it was too limited. That's why I wanted to try Photoshop.

I'd take it back and exchange it. The disk could just be corrupted like you said.

Hey girls! That company wrote me back and the problem with my scrapbook program is: I have a DVD version and I don't have a DVD player in my computer. (Mine is ancient) So, I have to send it to them and they will exchange it to a CDformat for me (for free) So that's cool I guess. But I have to wait 7 to 10 days for it to come back......ARGH!!!!
Oh well! My time is running out though. My friend was diagnosed with lung and brain cancer and I wanted to do a book for her from all of us at work (my 2nd job). We are having a benefit on April 6th for her, and I'm hoping to be able to get it done by then. I don't even know how to work this thing yet. So I need to get my rear in gear. Sorry....babbling again.......I'll stop now!

Scrapbook factory is easy to work. You won't have any problems learning how to it. I'd send you my copy so you could get it sooner but it's a DVD version too. Sorry. You can't download it from the internet somewhre?

Good luck!
