Can't figure out the avatar

So, I have a picture that I took of my kids, I played around with it in Photoshop and want to use it for my avatar. The only problem is I can't seem to get it small enough to work. What am I doing wrong?

The avitars size limits are 80 pixles by 80 pixles. so not very large at all. And the square shapes work better than the rectangle shapes.

Thanks, Keith! That is so nice of you to help me. I like the way you cropped the 2nd image, so I redid it to be more like that.

I'm going to try to make the text a little bigger, but at least I have something there for now.

I didn't. I took like 20 pictures hoping I would get one that I could use. Thank goodness for digital cameras! Most of the pictures are of my baby's bottom as he is trying to slide off the bed. He's a stinker! :)
