I used Mindy's actions (http://www.mindysphotoactions.blogspot.com/)to color correct the bike photo and I love it.

I used the Digital Scrapbook Memories "In the Mood" CD for these layouts. (http://www.digitalscrapbookmemories.com/ourProducts.asp)

Jill! Congratulations on your first post. Make sure to write about this in your journal or better yet scrapbook this event :) Great layout. The pictures are fun and the flower with the text around it is really a great idea.

Kelly, I love how simple and clean this layout is. It's very powerful because of that. No wonder these magazines love you.

Leora, you are so talented! You do such an amazing job with so little. I love how your pages aren't over crowded but are still so powerful. Wow!

Thanks Leora! It is always great when you master, (or at least make a fair attempt at) a new skill :) Now i just need to attempt an avatar.

And Kelly, I loved your page! What a fun idea to scrapbook something that makes you happy. I am working on doing more pages of things that I like or dislike instead of always just people. Thanks for the inspriation!

April,

The recipe swap at the Scrapbooking Class on Saturday was a lot of fun. I loved the variety of layouts and great recipes!

Gorgeous Brooke! You are obviously VERY talented! You have a great eye for color and design.

Lisa, what I can see looks great! Just so you know... the attached thumbnails are for you to click on and see bigger images. Your attached images are small. Next time I would recommend saving the files bigger (but under 107K). When you attach them our site will automatically make your thumbnail smaller. Clear as mud?

Mom (aka Leslie) You know I love your page! It blew me away the first time I saw it. It's so cool that my mom has finally decided that scrapbooking is cool. The colors and design of your page are very very impressive (your rolls are delicious too).

Wow! Brookiewookie those layouts are so nice. How do you do the stitching. I did not see anything on the tips page about that and I am dying to try it. Is it a brush (which I know nothing about those) or a effect or something? And the drop shadows are perfect--how do you do that? I know sooo many questions. Sorry.:o Your pages look soo realistic like they were done with real paper and stuff--I love that look. Angie i.

April
03-15-2007, 09:45 AM
Angie, the stitching isn't something that is easy to create yourself. Brooke used stitching from a different company.

The drop shadows are easiest in the full version of Photoshop - you have a lot more flexibility in the full version vs. Elements. There are ways in every version of photoshop to adjust the shadows. If you have Elements look in you layers palette (after you have added a shadow) and you will see a little circle with a fancy f on the layer you added the shadow to. Click on that and that will give you options to adjust your shadow.

Jill, the folded down paper is also fairly complex. We have a bunch of those coming in our new CD though.

Jill

So after a dry spell in creativity I forced myself to get thinking again. This is what I came up with. My son just turned 2 and the look on his little face says it all as far as how that is going.

April- I am way excited for the new CD. Any ideas when it will be out yet?

Hope everyone is well!

April

Very very cute Jill! It's so fun to see your layouts.

The new CD should be out by the scrapbook expo as long as we don't have any problems.

I ditched paper 4 years ago and went straight digital. I was just introduced to Digital Scrapbook Memories last month when I went to the class. I got some of the cd's and just used them for the layouts below. I found some pictures of snow at my house then my kids swimming 5 days later. Once I realized they were only 5 days apart, I decided to put them in the same layout. Here they are...

Sorry it has taken me so long to answer, Jill! April pretty much answered it, though. I don't know how to get a realistic enough folded effect by myself, so I've bought some folded templates to help me out! :)

I use PSE 4.0. About the shadows, I always tweak them in Layer--->Layer styles--->Style Settings by changing the lighting angle to the desired effect, and also I make the shadow distance way lower than the default, usually between 3-8. I usually also go back into Layer--->Layer styles--->Scale Effects and move the slider until I like it. I try to mimic the look of paper scrapping so I try to make the shadows look realistic.

HOpe this is helpful!!!

Although these photos had low resolution (from the digital camcorder) the page still turned out fairly well when printed 8x8:

blmcewan - fun pages. I love the difference between the two. You can totally start to see their personalities with this. Fun. We are totally into Buzz Lightyear over here too. Disney has the most awesome free Buzz Lightyear game on their site. I think it's called Astro Blasters. It's like the ride at Disneyland.

Angela, that picture is so sweet. What a great layout.

I got to play on my computer today!
The elements are all my crazy, random thoughts, and I just wanted to try them on for size, LOL!
I have tons to learn about digi product design, and this little jumping off point taught me tons!
No laughing (unless you really want to, then oh well, what can I do about it :D )

Yesterday was Creme Puffs with the homemade custard, and english breakfast scones! If I eat everything she learns to make, I will end up being the creme puff!

Seriously??? How cool! Tell her I am so proud of her. What a great use of her time. Sure... maybe she should be making salads or veggie dishes but I'm impressed that she is using her time to learn new things.

Becky - I was SO EXCITED to meet you today. I'm glad I got to chat with you for a short time in person.

I thought I posted this before but I can't find it anywhere. So if this is a repeat, sorry.
Anyway, Erin I love that page. Simple is the way for me. I think simple lets the pictures tell more of the story. I love it and the color scheme. Cute stuff! Here are a couple of my newest. The farm one was a challenge to myself for my photoshop skills. I really wanted to make a collage in a shape.

So let's talk about credits. How important are they and what do you do if you can't remember where they came from?

Great layouts! I love how you used the shape. It turned out great! I find I am stuck in the square or rectangle phase--kinda makes everything look the same. I need to venture out!! Here are some I have done this week. Angie I

Awesome! Thanks so much for sharing your layouts Jill and Angie.

Jill that big circle is really neat. I love those pictures on the "Walk the Dog" layout and I love how well they coordinate with the paper. Very cool.

Angie! I love them!!! I'm always into the squares and rectangles too. Both pages are super cute but I especially love the simpleness of the second. The picture is awesome and I love how it stands out. Way cute title too.
