Need a little reminder...

I need a reminder.. In class I learned I could make my elements and photos ect jump out.. I believe it was called a drop shadow. How do I do this again? I know it's something simple I just can't figure it out at this moment!

Here's a page I just did really quick!

I wanted to make it POP, but couldn't remember how to!

Very cute page. Highlight the layer you want and then go to the effects pallet. (Right above your layers) Find layer styles in the left drop down menu. In the right you will see drop shadows. From here you can pick the ones you like, I use soft edge.

Amber, very nice page. Along with the soft edge that Tpowers suggested, I think an outer glow would also make it POP on the trees.

Thanks So much! Also in the class when talking about saving, there was a minor glitch, what was the stuff on saving it it so I can go back in and edit any layer, anytime? Right now I just do a save as .jpg and save for web. Is it a .psd I need to save as? Help!!

If you want to edit leave it as a psd file. Once it is a jpeg file it flattens everything into one layer. I do this after I am done working on the page.

Amber, mine is on the right hand side above my layers palette, BUT you might not have it because in your windows drop down up on the top, you need to make sure ARTWORK and EFFECTS is checked, then it will pop up on your screen. Go to Special Effects--style layers and you will see drop shadows, glows, bevels, etc.

FIRST, check top WINDOWS to see if Artwork and Effect is checked.

good job... now you can adjust the size and gradient of the shadow by clicking on the little sun icon in the same layer that you applied the drop shadow.
