View Full Version : The Guy Scrap Challenge

So these latest fabulous pages from a few of DSM's male scrappers has got me thinking that we should declare a Male scrapping challenge.

The challenge is this: everyone needs to get a guy in their life to make & post a digital layout by Father's Day.

Post the layout in this thread with some short background info about the guy who created the LO (i.e. relationship to you, guy's daytime job, photoshop experience, the guy's interests/hobbies).

Good luck everyone! I can't wait for you boys to dazzle us!

This is a fun idea, I don't know if my husband would do or not but I'll see if he will try. He does do a lot of web design stuff so he knows photoshop, so i'll for sure see if he'll give it a try.

I'm sure Zach would love to participate! Hes watched me scrap so much that I'm sure he could do it. It was funny actually, he was looking at his cousin's blog and recognized the paper she used on it as Shabby Princess!! Funny huh? I guess I'm a little obsessed...thats why he knows all this cuz I'm always on the computer!

My husband is all over this! He suggested that everyone who enters pays like a dollar or something and then they can be judged and the winner takes all. Or, maybe we could just do a prize. If you don't want them to be judged, that's fine, too, but you know men, they like to win! This is going to be so fun to see all the fantastic layouts! Great idea!

I agree. Never have agreed more. So what guy would you suggest that I should get to make my layout?

What a good idea Quinn! Have you convinced Randy to make a page yet? Or is it gonna be Tate?.. hehe I don't think Devin will do it.. maybe he will since it was your idea.. I doubt it though!

I think Randy will do it. He's cropped photos in photoshop before so his toe is in the door. Maybe we should up the stakes with our hubbys. Devin couldn't walk away from an awesome incentive or way to beat Randy. He's very competitive. Just highlight his photography/art side & see if you can win him over. If Randy won't - and I think he would - I may try my brother-in-law, Alan, because he's an artist & is in Photoshop 24/7 (much, much more than any of us, I'm sure). I may try to get him to do it anyways, even if Randy will.

That's a good idea Quinn; I didn't even think of the competitive aspect between Devin and Randy. You just found my angle!

By the way, when is Father's Day?

Father's Day is usually the 3rd Sunday in June, I think.

My dad works in Park City right now so he came to visit me for awhile today while we were between classes. He was asking about what I was learning so I started to show him and he got way excited about it... I think he might be in! So well see how it goes, since my husband wouldn't do a page if I paid him!

I will try, to see if my husband will engage in this challenge. It could go either way with him, however I do know how to entice him a little... :yep::yep::yep::yep::yep:

Wish me luck.

crystalclark87
04-27-2008, 05:39 PM
I only know where the one is.. It's called Rookie Here, by DLunk. It's a really cute page. It's still on the first page of the forum.

Devin said he would not do it! He said he will make fun of Randy if he does it... Sad huh!

It's awfully nice for everyone to say they like my page, though I thought it paled in comparison to all the other pages I've seen on here. I did learn some things over the weekend, I'll have to work on some more.

And farther down on the "Rookie Here" thread is a post by Renaenae (post #19) that is a page her husband did.

My husband says that his page would be a screen shot of his favorite video game. I thought that was a pretty good idea. That is how he spends about 99% of his free time. (Meanwhile my basement is not getting any doner.)

I haven't even bothered asking my husband. Several years ago I tried to get him to do a paper page of our honeymoon pictures and he ended up cutting out a picture of me and a picture of a toilet, and he made me look I was peeing (standing up like a guy). I was NOT impressed. This was 9 years ago, and I know he's matured somewhat, but I'm not willing to risk it. Just imagine what he would do with the endless resources of Photoshop at his fingertips. :(

Sarah it sounds like your husband sabatazed you asking him to scrap again on purpose. You have to ask him again and see what he comes up with again, who knows it might be so funny that he wins!

Just imagine what he would do with the endless resources of Photoshop at his fingertips. Oh my. that sounds very dangerous. Don't let him get around my BIL Kraig. He would be a bad infuence and teach your DH lots of picture mutilation tricks.

Sarah Ellsworth
04-28-2008, 05:26 PM
Ok... am I a dummy? You all keep referring to your husbands as your DH. What the heck does that mean? I'm not up on all the computer lingo as everyone else is, I guess.

What's this about the bad influence? I don't think there is anything wrong with an occasional mutated picture. Jill got me hooked on this Worth1000 website and I'm thinking of posting some of my work there. I've got some good ideas now :D

Has anyone had their man work on this yet. My hubby actually worked on a page but I don't see that anyone has posted one yet. I know it's not Father's Day yet but I wanted to know if anyone is going to this or not. Also was there a decision on a prize involved?

My hubby is still planning on it. I would be willing to donate something for a prize, if we wanted to do that. Maybe a gift certificate or something?

Jenny McDonald
06-01-2008, 11:34 PM
I think we should a money bag thing. We donate as much or as little as you want and whoever wins gets the money bag. I'll make Aaron do one! :D :cantBreathe:

Thanks for the nice comments. My husband does actually know a little about photoshop, he has designed a few web pages but hasn't actually tried to do a scrap book page until now. So nope, I didn't help him, he did it all by himself.

Okay, my sweet husband would never do a guy scrap challenge. Ithought he would never even care about my digital scrapbooking. Well I was making invitations for my kids' b-day parties and was trying to do something. He told me I should just do this or that. I told him it was not that easy because it was photoshop. The phone rang and i got up to get it. he then slipped in my chair and began playing with my digital invitation (yes he was scrapbooking Keith, but he will deny it). He fixed what I needed fixed and said, "See, it's not that hard." Well he surprised me and did something along the lines of digital scrapbooking. I guess I better go fix something on the truck or the 4-wheelers.:yep:
