At the retreat, you were all given png files (which means they have some transparency) for each month for a CD case calendar.
-You will open the month you want to work on by going to File/Open
-Open any photo(s) you want to add
-Click and drag the photo onto the calendar page
-In the layers palette move the photo BELOW the calendar page so the photo only shows through the window on the page
-Resize the photo to fit the window and use the Eraser tool to delete any part that is overhanging into another window if you need to
-Add a text box by clicking on the T in the toolbox and then CLICK and DRAG to make a text box in the space provided for text.(Don't just click once or your text will flow off the page, down the hall and out your front door and you'll have to chase after it ;))
-I just added the day of the month and the event ie: 12 Andee's Birthday. This way it is good year after year!
-Add additional embellishments if you want to
-Once finished with a month, you can save as a jpg, but I'd also recommend saving as a psd do you can add additional dates as life happens and just reprint the one page.
-After all 12 months are completed, open all your jpg files and create a blank canvas that is 12X18 and drag each of them onto the canvas. You can fit about 8 on that canvas at a time.
-Then save as a jpg and maybe put print or 12X18 after the name so you know it's the print one ie calendar12X18.jpg
-Send to your local printing place, drive there, pay for them, bring them home, cut them up, bend your CD case carefully backward until it snaps the other way, set up your current month, ad the others on the back and tie a ribbon around to hold them. (detailed enough?? :p)
TA-DA!! Makes great inexpensive gifts.
Email me if you have any questions or I forgot something!!
