Hi! My name is Tanya, (I am Kim's niece) YAY! She introduced digital scrapbooking to me on Sunday and I am so excited to get started. I have done regular scrapbooking for years but I am excited to give something else a try. My question to all of you is if Adobe Elements 5 works with Vista?? I looked at some differents sites and some said that it would and some said that it wouldn't. My other question is ...I need a new camera! I read some posts about some of the cameras(Rebel) and they are so expensive. I would love to get one of those but I don't think it is going to happen. So I was wondering what is a good camera for a little bit less money? Ok well this is kind of long for my first post but I am so excited to get started and would really appreciate any advice that you could give me! Thanks!

First of all WELCOME! :)

As for your photoshop elements 5 question. Yes it will work on Vista with one catch. There is an update you need to make it compatible. Here is a link to that update.

http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/detail.jsp?ftpID=3569

so install it, then update it, then use it :)

As for a camera. The Rebels are great. SLR cameras open up more options for you. But if you just need something to take good photos, and not break open the piggy bank look at some of the Canon PowerShot cameras. Pretty much you will get what you pay for, but they are all loaded with features for the price and take great photos

Welcome. For just a point and shoot camera I'd suggest the Casio Exilim. I love mine! For a SLR camera I'd go with the Rebel, LOOOOVVVE IT!

Welcome Tanya!! We all love Kim around here, so we are very happy to have her niece join in the fun.

I have a Sony Cybershot and I love it. It has manual and AV modes, so you have a little more control over your pictures if/when you want to have more control. There is also the auto mode to use if you want to just take a picture and not think about everything. Another couple of things I love about it is that it doesn't have as bad of delay as some point and shoot cameras. And, there is a multi-shot option that will take a bunch of shots in a row while you hold the button. It's great for action shots and kids that move around a lot.

Welcome Tanya! I have a Cannon PowerShot, and I love it. It's great - well good enough until I can get an SLR!

Wow! Thanks for all of the help! I am so glad that you are all here to help me! :) I have one more question...Is there a huge difference between the Rebel XT and the Rebel XTi?? I found a good deal (well at least I think it is...) on an XT w/ 18-55 mm lens ($379) but I do not know a whole lot about them. Any suggestions? Also has anyone ever bought anything from bestpricecameras.com?? Thanks for all the help! :)

I like the website dpreview.com to compare cameras. Here is is a link that will compare both of those cameras side by side

http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/compare_post.asp?method=sidebyside&cameras=canon_eos350d%2Ccanon_eos400d&show=all

from what I see here are the main differences

approx $100
8 mega pixels vs 10 mega pixels
better auto focus
faster continuous photos
larger LCD viewfinder

I would not say it is a huge difference, but it maybe worth the additional money.

Thanks for the website! It really helped me to see the cameras side by side like that. I just can't decide what to do yet. . . . But I really appreciate the help! Thanks a bunch!
Oh yeah and by the way....there is no dirt on Kim! We think that she is perfect! ....and she is NOT paying me to say this. We really do love her!

Hello and WELCOME!

I love Canon personally. Every Canon I have ever tried or seen has worked well no matter what the price is. If I were to buy I would chose my price point and get the best Canon I can for that price.

Welcome, welcome! I have to agree with Jenny that the Casio Exilim is an awesome point & shoot!!! But when I get an SLR, it will be the Canon Rebel. Good luck! Can't wait to see your pages!
