May Template Challenge

Here's a Challenge I hope will be fun for everyone & will help expand your digi skills!

According to your comfort level, complete the "Basics" or "Beyond the Basics" challenge by the end of May. Post your completed layouts in this thread. Can't wait to see what you come up with!

Basics: Create a layout using this black & white template. You can alter it to make it your own. Download template HERE (http://www.4shared.com/file/47500244/205ff6c1/templatechallenge.html?).

Beyond the Basics: Make a black/white layered template & then create a personal layout using your template. Post your black & white template & the completed layout when done.

General info: Creating a template can help expand your creativity in how you scrapbook. Use the shape & marquee tools to create interesting shapes to snap your photos & papers into using "clipping masks" or "group with previous."

Here's April's awesome explanation on how to use layered templates:
Pull a picture or paper directly on top of any layer you want to "clip" it to. Then follow the commands below to clip your paper or picture to the exact size of the layer below it. After you are done you can use the move tool to move the paper or picture exactly where you want or to another size.

Kelli! What a cute take on that template! I love the rich colors & the fun patterns you put in the color blocks. I thought it was so fun to be able to make the patterned papers tiny for those little blocks & it looks like you had fun with that, too! Turned out great!

Kim, you crack me up! I feel like it's a question of "when is that baby going to fall out?" The baby has dropped & is deep in my pelvis - very fun/painful - & I'm dilated to 1 1/2 centimeters. The doctor said I could go any day now, so we'll see. Maybe I can assign Crystal to give the announcement here when it finally happens. Thanks for asking!

Ok here is my take on the template challenge. I hope it is ok that I rotated it...I am not sure of all the "rules." :) Well I had fun using this super cute template! Devin was able to get free tickets to the monster show at Rocky Mountain Raceway because he worked for Jack It and they sponsered them. We invited Amber, Name, and Quinn and Tate. It was really cool to see the monster trucks: the are huge in real life! Tate had a blast! Devin bought him a little Grave Digger truck that he played with a lot! It was really loud but Tate wouldn't wear the ear muffs: he loved the sound of the trucks! It was really fun to spend time with everyone and experience the noise and the madness of the show!

Thank you guys! It was a fun template to use! I love to do journaling; if there is blank space I will usually fill it with journaling!

Crystal Scandanavian Days is fun. I think anything in Ephraim is fun. OH one thing you need to make sure to do. In the summer they take the sheep up the mountains (the street in front of the Noyes Bldg.--I think it is College Ave). It is a mass herd of sheep. My kids thought that was so fun. You have to see it to believe it. They bring them back down in the fall. I got stuck in the middle of them in a rainstorm trying to cross the street to get to class.

Funny story about the sheep, it is true they run them right on the roads. I have been stuck several times in my car trying to get to work with sheep all around me. Only in Sanpete! I am really growing to love this place though.

Okay..I fixed the template so here is the new link if anyone wants it and a preview of what the template looks like (its really just a layout idea...so you can totally put something other than stars and I would suggest using a swirl from one of the DSM CDs...the ones I have there are really rough and are just there as place savers to replace with a better one). If you make a layout with the template I would LOVE to see it! :) Thanks guys!

Thanks guys! Kim, have you figured it out yet? For these pictures I used the luminosity blending option. Then I took a large (about 200 px) soft eraser and just erased around the edges and the parts of the photo I didn't want.. That is the easiest way for me to do it..

I thought I would share a template for a hybrid project. It is a gallon can size. I print on two sheets of 81/2 x 11. then the lid I usually print two on one sheet (just to save paper--I'm cheap). The templates are not very cutsie cutsie but you get the basic idea--I hope.

I missed this challenge because I wasn't a member yet. But I've been dabbling with templates the last week, so I was excited when I came across this thread. I'm not creative enough to come up with my own layouts yet. I'm practicing with magazines and page maps. This is a template I made using one of Becky Fleck's pagemaps. (I love page maps.)
