I am so excited for this. I finished mine and realized that I didn't add any drop shadows. I will be fixing that. Also, is it okay if my quick page has the checkered background where the picture goes. I tried it both ways and with the white it will not go behind the page. I did save it as a png file.

ok, so these are waaaay cute! I don't know if my mind could create one so cute! P.S. I have never made a QP before! How do I leave the photo spots open so you can slide your own photos into it?

Kelli,I guess you'll just have to come to the class ;)
J/K I wont make you wait that long but you will learn additional tricks there!
I like to use the shape tool to create the space where a photo would go as I'm creating my page.
Then you'll want to control+click on the thumbnail of that shape in the layers palette. While the ants march around it, hide that layer, but the allow the ants to stay. Then go to every layer below that shape and hit delete on your keyboard until you are on the bottom layer and you delete through to transparency. If you have a locked bottom layer and it still shows white, double click that layer and say OK to unlocking it and then delete again and it will show the transparancy boxes.
Save as a png to preserve that empty space.

Kim and Alisha I do only 8.5x11 in my books too but guess what? I use the DSM pre-made pages all the time...you grab the bounding box corner and type 8.5 wide, 11 high and it works! I know it sounds like it'd be all stretched and ugly but they're not! I've printed them too! I think this only doesn't work out with pictures and you can tell someone's face is all distorted. I think it will work totally fine with QP's! What do you guys think?

Robin, sometimes yes, sometimes not so much so! Most of the pieces would work, but there are a few times you can tell it's a bit off.

I decided to redo my page as an 8.5X11 so those of you who do pages that size wouldn't feel left out...we want you guys to join in too! I'll send it to Alisha so she can include it on the CD...unless she wants to wait and do the challenge with 8.5X11 pages some time soon. Anyway, I had my page saved as a .psd as well, so it wasn't too difficult to change the size of a few things.

Here is one of those 12x12 pre-made LO's from Collection 2 that I just mushed into and 8.5x11. If you look hard, you can tell it's a little long and skinny, but I don't think you could tell if you never knew! What do you think?
Just don't squish it AFTER you put your pictures in! Now that's bad!! LOL

Robin, I think this looks great. I did try it on one of April's templates yesterday and it was like this one too--just the flower was distorted--so I put a bigger one over it:) That's what I might have to do on all of these if everyone else isn't going to be as nice as Alyson and make an extra 8.5x11. I was in the mood to make another quick page. I scraplifted this idea from someone named Tracey...I saw it on a blog and I only know her first name. Anyway, here are the two pages...12x12 and 8.5x11.

So this is a layout I did for a scrap swap last year and I thought I would turn it into a quickpage now. I know I got the idea from one of the example layouts done with this CD was introduced. You can use other things from the kit as well to add to it for your own of course.

Dottie...open up your psd file for your quick page. Then open up a blank document that is 8.5x11. Back into your quickpage file, select all your layers, so make sure they are all highlighted, then click on your quickpage and drag it over to your 8.5x11 page and then hide your background layer so its transparent. fRom there you can resize accordingly. :)

hmm that might not work, but its a good way to get all your layers over to that size of a page, then you can adjust accordingly.

I made the first 12x12 quick page into an 8.5x11...

Dottie, were you asking how to make the file size smaller in order to e-mail your page to Alisha? I flattened all my layers except the background transparent layer (select all layers except transparent layer, right click, and select merge layers).

Then I went to File>Save for Web. There's a drop down box that probably says JPEG in it, you can click this and select the option for PNG-8. This should make your page under 10MB (I think that the limit for most e-mail systems when sending files), and you should be able to send it. I tried the PNG-24 option but it was still too big.

Way good idea!! That would be fun to do something that would be common for gifts so we wouldn't have 56 "back to school" or "swimming" pages but what about wedding pages? Or baby boy and girls pages? Things that we would need a lot of pages for and could do for gifts or ourselves when we have babies! Wouldn't that be awesome to have babies first year all done for you??

Gina, for the full resolution copy you'll save as a .png but don't use "save for web" for that one. The resolution will go way down and it won't look that great. The "save for web" will be for the thumbnail you post here. You can e-mail Alisha the full res copy at alisha@digitalscrapbookmemories.com. A lot of us had to upload ours to 4shared.com because they were too big of files to e-mail.

I did a scrapbook page exchange for two months and I really didn't like it. It took too much time to make all those pages each month. BUT with digi it is so much easier and I LOVE IT!!!

Okay so I went to where we need to get these files and there are about 8 QP's listed. Am I getting all of these? I only want the 12x12 ones but I don't want to download everything unless I need to. I know the file is massive, but do I download them all?

Brittany, the ones that have 85 in the title are the 8.5X11 files, so you don't need to download those if you only want the 12X12 layouts.
