Does anyone know much about Kuler? How do I go about loading color swatches from Kuler into adobe photoshop elements 6? If anyone could help I would be very thankful. Thanks

You can create a username and download it that way, or once you find or create a scheme you like, just not the Hex numbers at the bottom (six long number/letters) and you can input those into your color picker. If you have trouble, just let me know!

I've created a username and downloaded it, I just don't know how to load it into elements. Is there an easy way to do it?

This is how I do it in PSE 5

in the swatches palette (in palette bin) click "more>" and then "load swatches". Go to the file you downloaded the swatch to (I created a folder with my other digi stuff for swatches) and select the file. I had to change the "file type" at the bottom of the menu screen to .ase to find my kuler swatches - it defaults to .aco. The colors then are loaded into the palette bin - you might have to scroll down to see them.

How this helps!

Brittany, Alisha took us on a field trip on the internet one day while taking one of her online classes. It a site that let's you pick a color and then it gives you the complimentary, analogous, triad colors that go with the color that you choose in the first place. It's like a color wheel on the internet. I hope I'm making sense. It really helps when designing colors for your layouts.

What are some things you would use color swatches for?

When Alisha showed us, it was really cool. You would use a color swatch for example like this. Load your picture onto the website, and click a a few colors you want to be included in your sceme. For example, you want your daughter to be the focus and she's wearing pick so you click a few shades of pink from her shirt. It can then generate a color swatch for you using shades of the colors you pick, putting them in a triadal or complimentary sceme. The swatch helps give you an idea of what colors will look good together and helping to pick your papers and embellies and such. Really cool. Just go on and play with it too!

I didn't want to mess with downloading them because I don't think I'm ever going to use the same one twice (Since I like to 'match' my pictures..) Once I make my color scheme I just hit "print screen" and then paste it onto a new canvas directly in PS (any version) and then I use my eyedropper to pick the color. Easy peasy!

It also showed you which colors go good together, like a color wheel. Sorry I have never tried to download any.

I am just getting started learning to use Kuler, but have been very impressed with it and the possibilities. My favorite is the ability to load a picture in and get a color scheme to match it.
