Hey Ladies-
This isn't a scrapbooking question, but I thought each of you would be the best to ask. I was wondering what are some of your favorite children's books. I am a sucker for good books to read to my kiddos. I have a 5, 3 ,and a 6 month old. We are currently reading, "The Tale of Despereux", By Kate DiCamillo, it is our first chapter book. It seems a little bit over my 5 year olds head, but we are loving reading it as a family. I also Love the famous
"Love you forever" by Robert Munsch , and "Hand, Hand, Fingers, THumb", by Al Perkins. Anywho, just wondering what are some of your favorite story time books? I would love some ideas!

My favorite book as a kid was "What Was That". I don't know if they still sell it, but it was such a cute book. It was about three bears. The youngest hears a squeak, sits up in bed and says, "What was that?" and runs to the brothers room, where the brother explains the noise was just a mother beetle say goodnight to her son. Then they hear a clink, say "What was that?" and run to the oldest brother's room. He explains that it was a mouse taping his tooth brush on the sink....this goes on until they all end up in Momma and Papa bears bed. The bed breaks from the weight of all the bears and all the little creatures who made the previous noises sit up in bed and say "What was that?" It was such a cute story.

Ooooooh! We love books! This is a subject I LOVE to talk about.
For your baby I highly recommend "Peek a Who" (http://www.amazon.com/Peek-Who-Nina-Laden/dp/0811826023) It's so good. The 3 year old will love it too.
A new favorite for my kids (6 and 4) is Fly Guy (http://www.amazon.com/There-Was-Old-Lady-Swallowed/dp/0439639069/ref=pd_bbs_sr_2?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1221014818&sr=1-2) Such a clever beginning in this "Old Lady who swallowed Fly Guy book".
Frog in a Bog (http://www.amazon.com/Frog-Bog-Karma-Wilson/dp/1416927271/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1221015126&sr=1-1) is GREAT! Really great!
Little Mouse, Red Ripe Strawberry, and the Big Hungry Bear (http://www.amazon.com/Little-Strawberry-Hungry-Childs-Library/dp/0859533301/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1221015189&sr=1-1) is really fun to memorize. We love it.
Shel Silverstein poems are a must! Don't forget Shel!!!
Where the Wild Things Are (http://www.amazon.com/Where-Wild-Things-Maurice-Sendak/dp/0060254920/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1221015343&sr=1-1) and Alexander and the Horrible Day (http://www.amazon.com/Alexander-Terrible-Horrible-Good-Very/dp/0689711735/ref=pd_bbs_2?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1221015343&sr=1-2)are sooooo good! But we all know those books right?
Tumble Bumble (http://www.amazon.com/Tumble-Bumble-Felicia-Bond/dp/0064435857/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1221015560&sr=1-1) would be great for a 3 and 5 year old.
The Monster at the End of the Book (http://www.amazon.com/Monster-this-Book-Little-Golden/dp/037582913X/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1221015637&sr=1-1) is my little boys favorite. If you read it with a lot of emotion it's a hysterical book.
For Utahns, this short chapter book (http://www.amazon.com/Know-Nothing-Halloween-Can-Read-Book/dp/0064442527/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1221015677&sr=1-1)is currently on sale at Seagull Book for $1.50. My little boy really likes it. I often check in there for the dollar deals. We have bought plenty of bad ones but a lot have been really really great!
A Bad Case of the Stripes (http://www.amazon.com/Bad-Case-Stripes-David-Shannon/dp/0439598389/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1221016005&sr=1-1) is BRILLIANT!! Gorgeous pictures too.
I'd be totally suprised if Skippyjon Jones (http://www.amazon.com/Skippyjon-Jones-Mummy-Trouble/dp/0142412112/ref=pd_bbs_sr_2?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1221016646&sr=1-2)isn't made into a cartoon one day. My kids think it's the most hilarious book (actually set of books). It's about a cat that thinks he is a chihuahua. The first time I read it I didn't like it but after a while it grew on me. The book is best if you can animate your voice.
I Love You Stinky Face (http://www.amazon.com/I-Love-You-Stinky-Face/dp/0439634695/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1221016415&sr=1-1) is totally cute. A perfect bedtime book.
Sheep in a Jeep (http://www.amazon.com/Sheep-Jeep-Nancy-E-Shaw/dp/039586786X/ref=pd_bbs_2?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1221016533&sr=1-2) and Shark Mad Stanley (http://www.amazon.com/Shark-Mad-Stanley-Strange-Relations/dp/1860071732/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1221016562&sr=1-1) are great books too.
Although I could keep going... I'll stop. Well, except I have to tell you about National Geographic Kids (https://w1.buysub.com/pubs/NG/NWO/082907kidsdon.jsp?cds_page_id=31650&cds_mag_code=NWO&id=1221016961919&lsid=82532222419022216&vid=1&cds_misc_5=EDITORIAL5&cds_page_id=31650&cds_mag_code=NWO)magazine. It's super cheap for a subscription and it is SO MUCH FUN to read.

Hi! I am sure you already have the classics but "Goodnight Moon" is a favorite in our house! I have a 3 year old and and 18 month old and even the younger one will recite it after me! The pictures are awesome, lots of stuff for them to look at. They just love it! We also love "The Napping House" by Don and Audry Wood (These are the same that write 'little mouse...strawberrry..and bear' mentioned by April before.
We also love "Chicka Chick Boom Boom," (that's fun for everybody!) and my son is REALLY into fisher price 'Little people' books right now that most. I just get them at Walmart and the are a hard book that have a ton of little flaps for them to look inside on each page. We have "cars boats, planes, and trains," "The Zoo," and "The Farm." They are all really great and they can take a LOT because they are so thick. Even the flaps are super thick. Not a TON of reading there but I can tell they are still learning alot.
Good luck!

My kids are seven and five. We like some of the same ones that have been mentioned, but I would add:
Click, Clack, Moo Cows that Type by Doreen Cronin (her other books are fun too.)
If I Built a Car by Chris Van Dusen It is a very cute book about a boy who designs a really awesome car. My son loves it!
You are Special by Max Lucado and other books by him.
I recently read Where the Red Fern Grows by Wilson Rawles to my kids and they loved it! My son cried at the end when the dogs died. It is a chapter book so I read it out loud.
If you give a mouse a cookie by Laura Numeroff and other books in that series are fun.
Corduroy by Don Freeman
The Relatives Came by Cynthia Rylant
Fancy Nancy by Jane O'Connor
Micawber by John Lithgow
Bear Snores On by Karma Wilson
My daughter, who is in second grade, is loving The Boxcar Children books by Gertrude Chandler Warner. She is also reading the Little House on the Prairie series by Laura Ingalls Wilder. Judy Moody and Junie B. Jones are other easy chapter books she has enjoyed.
These are just few that I can think of. Can you tell we love books?

Here are a few more:
Guess How Much I Love You (good for all ages) by Sam McBratney, Barnyard dance by Sandra Boynton (this gets everyone up, moving and smiling), I see you, you see me, by Stephanie St Pierre (wonderful 18 month and younger book), Watch Out by Jan Fearnley, (cute book about a very energetic young lad who always gets in a mess), and I just ordered from Scholastic I'll read to you , you read to me, and I love it. It is a great story time book. If your children are older, than you can read a line, they can read a line, if they are younger like mine, it is a great impersonation book.
Thanks for all your ideas!
