Since I am kind of new at Digital, the Hard/Soft cover book conversation got me thinking. How do you ladies do your books? Do you print up the pages (either at home of through a company) and then buy a book and just slip the pages in...or do you have the whole book made through a company. I am just not sure which one to do.
Thanks!!

I have always wanted to try the hard cover books, but I never have all the pages made for one year or one whatever my book is about. I'm a random scrapper, meaning I scrap what I feel like scrapping at the time. My albums are mostly in chronological order, and I have big gaps where I need to still scrap things. Because of all this, I print up each pages separately and put them in sheet protectors in an album. That way I can rearrange the pages later when I have a new page scrapped.

Bound books all the way! I prefer the hard bound. They're just so much more cleaner looking to me.

I'm in the same boat as Alyson. I'm a whatever-I-feel-like-scrapping scrapper. I print my pages at home 8x8 on photo paper and put them in a regular scrapbooking album. Right now I'm using albums I made myself. I am working on getting enough pages done to have a hardbound book printed. We're supposed to be getting one of those machines for our shop! :)

This is part of why I asked about 8x8s on another thread. I think I'm going to finish out the year I'm working on in 8.5x11 and just have the pages printed and put them in a binder with the rest of the year. I really want to do the hardbound books though but thought it would be a bit random to start in the middle of the year.

I got a great coupon with MemoryMixer so I went with them. I really like it. It cost a little over $1 per page but that price also included shipping. I could do the math... hold on let me figure it out.... it cost $1.40. Anyway, I like it.

Ditto. Although I am doing an album from our Disney trip which I hope to finish up and upload this week. I'm think I'm going to go with Winkflash (they're having a sale!) - has anyone ever used them before? I'm excited to try the hard bound option.

occasionally i make bound books thru shutterfly but usually i print 8x8s at scrapbookpictures.com (love them - perfect edges without gutters or resizing and super great print quality) then put them in albums at home. i could print at home, but i really get nervous about the quality for long-term.

I agree the hardbound books look so much more nice, clean and prefessional. I would love to do one of those for a gift sometime. Having said that, I do the separate pages with the page protectors. Reason being, I don't want a professional scrapbook that I am afraid for my kids to touch! My scrapbook is all around the house. It is currently on the couch. My 18 month old CONSTATNLY finds it and says "read mom?" And I LOVE it!! Yes, my sheet protectors are a little sticky and wrinkled in some pieces on their favorite pages but I am so glad that my book is loved! I always want them to be able to grab their baby books and look through them whenever they want. I know that this is weird but they really aren't less valued at all...I think we value them more cause we look at them all the time!

I have to agree with you Robin. Thanks for making me think about that. My kids love to look at their books and I think if I hade one made it would be too easy to tear the pages. Even though I LOVE the look of them. I will just have to do a few of those for special occasions.
Amy...I really like scrapbook pictures! I have gotten some pages done there and loved the quality. I had some done at another place and they just weren't as good as those from scrapbook pictures.
Thanks ladies for all the great info. Now I am off to prepare for Hurricane Ike!

was thinking about one more thing ... part of the beauty of digital - can do multiple options! can always print books for the adults and the other page protector books for the kids.... sky's the limit! :)

I've used Blurb.com and liked them. Also there is a new company called ArtsCow...they are having a promotion right now if you sign up you can get 10 free 8x8 books! I think the site is just www.artscow.com

I think the company Quinn used was Cherish Bound, but I think you have to go through a consultant or something like that.

I have used http://www.blurb.com for 4 different books and loved the quality. You can't beat the price. The only bad thing with Blurb is that that they only have one size of square books (7 x 7).
