I know most of you are in mountain areas... but a lot of my family and my husband's family are in Texas right where the hurricane is supposed to hit tomorrow night. And I'm in Germany. Please pray for everyone in those areas that are supposed to be affected by the hurricane. I can't remember one this big coming so close to where my family lives. They usually hit higher north. It's stressful! I just want it to hit land and fizzle out!!! :(

It must be hard to be so far away from family during such a scary time! I hope and pray they'll be alright.

On a side a note I had a sister in law that lived in Germany for a few years, ( I am not sure how long you have lived there), she is now in Oklahoma, but she always talked about a Kelly that she met in Germany, do you happen to know Mylinda Ellis?

Yes...it is pretty crazy here. I am just outside of Houston and stores are out of food and water and the gas stations are getting empty. We are about an hour inland and they still expect winds up to 90 miles an hour:eek:. I have never been in a major hurricane before so hopefully this one isn't as bad as they say. The last major one was Rita and it missed us. So me and my family will be hunkering down here tomorrow night.http://img2.mysmiley.net/imgs/smile/scared/scared0016.gif (http://www.mysmiley.net/free-mad-smileys.php)

I will pray for you too. I think that is the best thing you can do. My brother is a fire fighter and he has been to California to fight the fires a few times this summer. We could not contact him for days/week at a time and it was so scary. Praying helped though. Even my kiddos (4 & 6) would pray for him.

Sorry, I don't remember a Mylinda! Was she in Stuttgart? There are actually several Kelly's here in the area! :)

My brother is in Victoria and I have cousins in Corpus Christi. My DH's family is in Groves. My bro said it made a sharp right turn and is going farther north. I hope your family is ok! They aren't giving us enough updates here!!!!

Yes it did make a turn. I live in Spring, TX and the eye is coming right over us if it stays on the path that it is going. I am a little worried, but my husband doesn't think it will be bad. I have made a special bed for all the kids to sleep in my room with us tonight and I guess we will see how it goes. Thanks for all the prayers!

Thoughts and prayers for you guys.
My sons are in San Antonio for the summer, but they think they'll be okay if Ike doesn't turn. They should have tornado warnings though.

My brother and my cousins were far enough south to not feel much. They were in Corpus Christi and it hit Galveston. Haven't heard from my husband's family, but I think they were fine too. Thanks SO much for everyone's prayers!!! It was much less destructive than they predicted and I think it did less damage than it did to Cuba. I believe in the power of prayer!

It is amazing how fast these hurricanes can turn and be somewhere else. It is really scarey to watch a hurricane hit an area where your loved ones are. Especially when the power goes out and you don't get any word for awhile. I loved your hunkering down guy - You sit and watch it come. My son is in Jamaica right now, and I have watched these past three storms go so close and one on top. I am glad we have prayer. Then the news that everyone is safe - not without the challenges, but safe is such a sigh of relief. I can hardly wait until November when this season is over. I have thought a lot about you ladies who are in states that are effected and hope you are all well and safe too. Kim, I hope you are safe.
I live about 50 miles south of Houston. We got the clean side of Ike. I would imagine that Kim is still without electricity and could be for a few days.

Hello ladies...I am back writing to you from Dallas. We weathered the storm fine and there is no damage to our home. It seems like where we live there is not much damage at all. No flooding either. However we are out of power. We stayed through the storm and the next day, but it just got too hot sitting in our house so we decided to pack up and take a mini vacation. We will head home when the power turns back on. Hopefully that won't be too long. The kids are out of school until Thursday so they are really excited out that. Thanks for all the prayers...they worked!

Kelly and Kim, it's so good to hear that you and your families are all okay. Hurricanes are scary and I was a little concerned that we hadn't heard from Kim yet, so I'm so relieved that you are okay!!
