Hello Everyone! Anyone up for chit chatting about baking??? I am in the market for a Bosch mixer, I was wondering if anyone had any recommendations? I am looking for one mainly to mix bread. We make bread around here quiet frequently, and I have heard that a Bosch is the way to go. I am a novice in this area and am wondering if there is anyone out there who has some ideas or experience with a Bosch mixer. I want to know are they worth it? Are they better than any other brand? What one would you recommend? What other attachments are offered?

Thanks for you advice, (in advance)

I love my Kitchenaide. It has a dough hook that we use for mixing bread, etc. besides the regular mixing paddle and the wisk. As far as attachments go, it came with a grinder (like for meat, etc.) which I have never used. I guess if I were to make my own baby food I could use it, but my kids are older . We bought the attachment that slices, grates, etc. and use it all the time. It is the best way to grate cheese and slice potatoes, etc. I've used etc. too many times. Anyway, we didn't have one growing up but I LOVE it. I would recomend getting an extra bowl. It's a little extra convenience.

I don't cook. Well, I don't cook much so I can't help but I know there are others here that are awesome. I have heard others say that an expensive mixer is the way to go. I hope others help you soon. I'm sure they will.

Haha, we posted the same time. I wouldn't put myself in the classification April mentioned but if there's one thing we're good at baking at our house, it's desserts. It's pretty unfortunate because then we eat them and we really don't need them.

My husband had a kitchenaid when i married him. It was great. I really missed it when we separated. Some day I will get one for myself. I want a red one!

I have had a Kitchenaid for many years. I started with a 4 1/2 quart one, and this last Christmas, my hubby gave me the 6 quart RED one! I was totally shocked. Anyway, now I have 2 and use them all the time. I make bread alot. I also do wedding cakes and it comes in very handy for mixing up large batches of icing.

My sil has a Bosch and I know she loves it, but it doesn't seem as versatile as the Kitchenaid, but maybe I just don't know much about them.

I have a pastry attachment and make my own noodles. My hubby's favorite meal is homemade ravioli. Anyway, I'm very happy with my Kitchenaid.

I use a Bosch and grew up with one. In over thirty years of marriage, my mom has only had two Boschs and she makes bread frequently and large batches of it. I only have the baby Bosch and sometimes it is a little small for making double recipes of bread dough, but it still does it. I love it and am in the market to get a bigger one now that I am making bread more often. As far as versitile, you can get all sorts of attachments for you bosch. Mom uses it to cut veggies, shred cheese and so on, but mostly for bread. I have used a kitchenaid and they are great too, I think I am just partial to Bosch because I grew up with it an know that they are great. My grandmothers and aunts all use them as well and all find them to be an essential kitchen appliance.

Thanks for your help! Do have any recommendations on which Bosch to get? My sister has a kitchenaid and she loves it as well. I also have a close friend who is very partial to a Bosch, I wanted to get a few other opinions as well. I didn't realize they have so many attachments! We make homemade noodles, but we have a separate noodle maker that we use. It would be nice to combine them all in one.

Amy, what type of kitchenaid do you have?

Thanks again for all your input!

I have the 4 1/2 quart one and the 6 quart commercial one. Any Kitchenaid attachments will work with any Kitchenaid stand mixer, which is kind of nice because I can use my old attachments with my new mixer.

I know people who own Bosch mixers really love them, I just have not had any personal experience with them, and for what I do, the Kitchenaid seemed to be a better choice.

Good luck! I'm sure you'll be happy either way you go. They both are great machines. Once you get one, you'll wonder how you got by without it!

My mother and aunts have the Universal bosch (older model). You can make quite a bit of bread with one. I have the compact or baby bosch as we refer to it. I can make enough dough in it to make 4 loaves of bread. It fills it up pretty good, but I have been doing it for 5 years with the same mixer and it hasn't complained yet. You can get several attachments for both types.

I have a Bosch and love it too! My mom has one that's she's had for atleast 30 years and it's still works just as well as my new one! So they are well built.
