My parents were married in the SLC temple and I wanted to do an antiqued picture of it for their anniversary this year. However, I need a high resolution picture of it to be able to do one that would be large enough to be a wall hanging for them. I figured since many of you lovely ladies are in the Salt Lake Valley, you might be able to help, pretty please. :ILoveIt:
Also, by way of celebration and just wanting to share my happiness, I was so excited that President Monson announced a temple for my mission in Rome Italy and for my husband's mission in Philadelphia. Now we have to start a temple dedication fund so we can make the trips when each is completed.

Kelli West posted an antiqued picture of a different temple here (http://forum.digitalscrapbookmemories.com/showthread.php?t=4777), but she may have one of SLC. I'm fairly certain she has done a wedding or two there also.
Jamie, that is a great picture.

I'm so excited for the temple in Philly!!!! (This summer I moved away after living in Philadelphia for four years.) I almost started crying when he announced it! I am already planning to go back and visit when it's finished.
Jamie - that photo is gorgeous (of course - yours always are)!

I really would just like the picture and to be able to do the antiquing thing myself. I have tried to find somewhere online that offers/sells high res images of temples, but have had not luck, that is why I turned to you ladies. I guess if all else fails, I'll just have to make a trip to Utah :)

I have always loved running in the snow, especially if I am the first one out on it. The world is so beautiful and quiet and you just hear this wonderful crunch crunch as you run. We are supposed to have snow this weekend as well, but I have yet to run a 5K in the snow, maybe I'll get lucky this year.

Teri what did you do to get the anitqued look? I know some people do overlays, I am always curious how they get them done.
principessa
10-16-2008, 11:22 PM
I used some overlays that I made from some pictures I took of some old metal cups that I have. I would be happy to share them with you if you like. Just send me your email. I'll also include the order I used them in and at what opacity.

Jamie, LOVE LOVE LOVE this! Can you give us some hints on how you got this effect?
I use a program that all you do is hit a button. But sometimes I try something new on photoshop and I get something new differenet. After playing around this is what i came up with...
You have to give me a break because i'm not at home and i don't have a temple picture.. but here is a sample you could try...
first change it to a rough sepia color...
In CS2...
Filter>sketch>halftone pattern. (i played with the size and contrast until i got something that i liked) Note: if you change your foreground color to blue for example before you do this, your picture will be blue. So if you want the sepia look get a redish-brown color. You can do any color in the rainbow ;)
Then I added a grunge overlay.. I've used the grunge overlay on the moods cd before and it gives it a cool effect.
Next maybe play with the opacity of the grunge layer.
Then add another texture...Filter>texture>texturizer... again play with the size and so on.
Hope this gives you a few ideas

Thanks Jamie. I haven't used the texturizer before, so I'm excited to play with it. Thanks for your help!

Did you get clam chowder in a breadbowl and go to Ghiradelli? Did you see the guys that make amazing pictures using spray paint? I love San Francisco and want to go again.

yum! I love clam chowder in a bread bowl and Ghiradelli is awesome! San Fran is my city...only about 2 and half hours from where I grew up we used to go there all the time, my parents have a timeshare there in this really cool vintage, old fashioned hotel right in the middle of the city and we would go up to Giants baseball games and broadway plays. My parents actually lived there for a few years cuz my dad went to dental school there, their first three kids were born there. Anyway...I love San Fran...thats where my hubby and I had our honeymoon too!!

I was not completely satisfied with the last version I did of the Denver temple, so I went and took some more pics and this is what I came up with. I really like this one and how it turned out. I like how the trees frame the temple. I am way excited to give this to my sis at Christmas.

While we were is SC for Thanksgiving, I got a few snaps of the Columbia Temple where DH and I were married and this is what I came up with for my vintage of it.
http://forum.digitalscrapbookmemories.com/picture.php?albumid=202&pictureid=1858
I also had to share a family pic we took. I had each family sit on the couch and then I photoshopped it together. I wish I would have had a better camera to do it with, because it was to dark inside for my little PS, but it is a fun concept none the less.
http://forum.digitalscrapbookmemories.com/picture.php?albumid=202&pictureid=1857
And the last one is my little one for her 6 months pics. I cannot believe she celebrated a half birthday already.

Now, I originally started this thread because I was looking for a picture of the SLC temple that I could do the vintage thing to for my parents anniversary. Well, I am still looking, hoping, begging for one. Pretty please? :)

Lynette,
The picture is real. My DH worked in egypt for a little and I got to go over for a month and hang out
Natashapeach,
Most of the antiquing is just using overlays. If you want the SLC temple pics, talk to Tori, since the original photos are hers, I just did the antiquing on them.
