Hi guys! I am wondering if anyone knows how to create textured paper in photoshop? I love love LOVE all of DSM's paper but I am wondering how it's done! I was hoping I could try making my own and customizing kits for my kids by making different papers and embellishments relating to them, does that make sense? So my question is, how would I go about making a kit by myself? Is is done with just photoshop?
Thanks!
Robin

I have wondered the same thing. My husband has made a couple things for me and he's done it all in photoshop. I've also stolen some of his textures that's he's done for his job, but I don't know where to start from scratch. I know you can make papers by using different brushes, but I haven't done much with that. That would be a really good tutorial to learn the basics. I guess I should pay more attention when my husband's making things for me. lol

I agree. I've got some ideas, but a tutorial would be great.
I think there are textures you can use in photoshop I don't do much of them so I'm not sure exactly how to do it.

I know we learned how to make the paper look like Bazzill cardstock at the retreat last year. I will have to see if I can find my notes from that.

Here is a link to a site that I found that teaches you how to make textured fonts. This one is putting stitches around your words. On this tutorial, he also teaches you how to make textured paper that looks like denim. It is really fun to play around with.

another way to make textured papers is to buy commercial use overlays..... and use them over and over :) or you could make your own textures by taking pictures of things like concrete, cement, rocks, tin foil, etc. and use them as overlays.

A really easy way to make textured paper is to take photos of textures (like a cement wall, rain on your driveway, rocks, etc.). Then you just fill a page with a color, bring in your textured photo, and blend the two together in the layers palette.

Paths definately don't work in Elements. I tried everything I could. I ended up resorting to the full version of Photoshop for Paths, but I still like Elements for the bulk of the work. You know you don't have to buy the latest and greatest version. I'm using the version three versions back and it works fine. And paths are SO GREAT!
