Does anyone know of any good tips for a total beginner? I really want to get into photography but i don't know where to start.:) I have a point and shoot camera.

Don't know about sites but "Understanding Exposure" by Bryan Peterson is a great book for helping you make the most of your camera functions. :)

I have that book and there is a site I love called

Better Photos (http://www.betterphoto.com/home.asp)

and the book that helped me the most was by Jim Miotke and is called The Better Photos Guide to Digital Photography (http://www.betterphoto.com/product/ourProductDetail.asp?productID=1311&category=BKS)

HTH!

Another book I like is The Digital Photography Book by Scott Kelby (http://www.amazon.com/Digital-Photography-Book-Scott-Kelby/dp/032147404X/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1/102-9031881-0536939?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1177111289&sr=8-1). It's not so much a technique book though. He mostly tells you how to set your camera to get a certain look. It mostly pertains to SLR's, but my friend read it and uses point and shoot and said her camera had a lot of the same features in the book. He has chapters on landscapes, portraits and weddings, sports/action, etc.

I just heard about this website (http://www.pictureline.com/info/articles.php) tonight. It has a ton of different articles on a lot of different photography related items. I haven't used it personally, but just had a couple of people tell me it was good. It may be worth checking out. It's called Pictureline.com. The link should take you right to the article pages.

www.ilovephotography.com is a great place to check out...I was there constantly when I first started out. Great resource. There's a free access side and a paid access side.
