My new camera arrived late last week and I have had a crazy schedule ever since. But yesterday I was able to take about an hour to play, and my daughter was kind enough to participate.
Here is a photo http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h89/ctameling/Hannah%20downtown%20W%20photos/sittingonrail.jpg from our little adventure :) .
If you want to see a couple more, you can see them in my photobucket album at this link - the guest password is tameling http://s62.photobucket.com/albums/h89/ctameling/Hannah%20downtown%20W%20photos/
Thanks for letting me share!!

Yay!!! What a fun picture! I just got my 30D yesterday and finally found an hour to play with it today. I'll post a picture or two of mine here when I get a chance.
What lenses did you get? I got the 28-135 IS and the 50mm 1.8 lens.
I was soooooo past due for this camera. I was always trying to manually change the settings on my point and shoot which took forever. I love how easy it is to change some of the settings on this camera. I love how fast it is too. Wow! It's so fast compared to what I had before.

Thanks for the nice comments.
Yeah, April . . . I am so excited that you got your 30D, too!!!! I can't wait to see the pictures you took. Be sure to share.
As for lenses - I got the 17-85 IS with my 30D. I have a few other canon lenses that I bought when I had my digital rebel (50mm, 55-200mm, 18-55mm). My 50mm 1.4 lens is still my favorite. It stays on my camera 95% of the time. That is the lens I used to take the photo of my daughter above (and most of the others in the photobucket album I shared above). My favorite photo from the other day using the 17-85mm is this one:

I added a little grunge to the edges (by Lauren Bavins, designer digitals) to match the alley scenery where I was shooting.
Hey, Chicagoland ladies!!! Anyone up for a photography playdate in the next couple of weeks??

WOW!!! You are so good! I think that the grunge is perfect for that photo! I loved your photobucket!

Ok... Here is one picture I took SOOC (straight out of camera). I love how clear the pictures are with this camera. I took one picture of my little girl where I could see every tiny hair on her face... amazing. I also love how fast this camera shoots. I could never go back to anything else now that I have this camera. I took one picture of my little boy where he was jumping off the curb and there was very little blur even though I was shooting in auto. Cool! I especially love how blurred the backgrounds can be. I took one picture of my little boy where his hands were in front of his face. You could see every detail on his hands but his face was slightly out of focus. I love that this camera has that power. This picture is nothing special but it's my best one. I'm not very good with people pictures in full sun and that was the only lighting I had to work with in my hour and a half of playtime.

GORGEOUS photo, April!!! I'm so excited for you . . . isn't it fun to try out all the new features??! I wish we lived closer and we could "play" together :) . BTW, I'm not good at full sun with people either . . . I don't know anyone who is really good in those conditions. My best trick for those conditions is to find an alley and work with the shade in there. But when you only get a few minutes to play, you don't usually get to wander very far from home.
Have fun learning all the features of your camera and I hope you will keep posting all your pictures . . . . I love to see them.

Connie, That would be cool! I'll be in Chicago for CHA in July. I want to take my sister on that architectural boat tour. You should come with us.
Also, you should try and get together with Tracie (tkradtke) because she mentioned here that she wished she had a great photography group in Chicago... or IL http://forum.digitalscrapbookmemories.com/showthread.php?t=452&highlight=howe
Today I'm going to my 2 year olds dance recital. I hope I can get good pictures. I doubt the lighting is in my favor. We'll see.

Wahooo! I love this picture of my little girl. I wish her eyes were open more and there was more light in her eyes but I am still in love with this picture and I think I will frame it for the grandmas :)

Awe, that is such a sweet photo. Definitely a frame-worthy photo for the grandmas :) !!! Funny, we had a dance recital dress rehearsal today too . . . must be that time of year LOL. I haven't even uploaded the photos I took yet, so can't comment on how they turned out. But I didn't get any outdoor (which would have been my first choice) because we had cloudy, windy and wet weather today :( . Oh well, I'll live vicariously through your outdoor dancing queen (hee hee).
I'm still working out all the details to make it to CHA this summer (we are usually on vacation during the end of July). But if I am in town, I would LOVE to meet you in person. Oh, and Tracie and I have chatted briefly about trying to meet up for a photo playdate. I really need to email her to set something up. Thanks for the reminder.

How many more hours until Tuesday??? :p
Wardrobe for the kiddos??? Hmmmm . . . I'll be lucky if she doesn't have Cheerios stuck to her chin LOL!! She does have some cute new shoes, but other than that we will probably just be wearing the same old same old :) .
I can't wait to meet you on Tuesday, Tracie!!

Connie... we're under 24 hours away from our playdate!!!
The only reason I'm sort of concerned about wardrobe is that I may try to sneak in Alex's 7 year portraits tomorrow! LOL!
Oh... and there's a church a couple blocks from here with a huge colorful mural painted on the side that might be a fun backdrop tomorrow!
April... hopefully I'll have something worth posting!
