I'm excited for you! We'll have to learn together. My pictures are only good outside on overcast days or in the shadows on super bright days.

Hi Amy.
I actually like the first one . . . kind of a fun light effect with the darkness all around her and then the bright colors with her shirt and hat. But, I know, a bit disappointing when that is not the look you are striving for.

Pull out that manual and start playing with your aperture priority mode :) .

Most importantly, have fun!!!!

Thanks for sharing your photos.

I have the Nikon D80, not the D200. I am not sure what the differences are between the two. That will be one totally awesome camera for you! :D I love my Nikon a lot. I like the heftiness of it if that isn't too weird to say. It makes me feel like I am the real deal when I hold it! I am still learning all the tricks to it. We will need to share ideas for sure. Congrats on your new baby!

P.S.
When I first got my camera I knew nothing about anything as far as aperture, ISO, shutter speed or any of that. I was a total point and shoot kinda girl. The manual was a big help for me, plus I looked a few things up on line. There are tonz of fun ideas out there with some good walk throughs. Once you get the ideas of it, it is really pretty easy. The best part about the cameral is, it is tough to take a bad picture. You can just pretend that you did it on purpose!

If you live near an Inkley's, you should check out their classes. They say you have to pay, but I've never even had to show a ticket. The class teaches all about everything you're interested in knowing & they give hands-on help if needed. I've been taking them & it's been a great experience.
