Oh what do you do in the summertime, when all the world is green? What treats do you reserve for this time of year? What traditions do you have? What do your kids like to do?

--on Memorial Day (the true beginning of summer), our extended family gets together for a huge game of softball

--go for rides up the canyon, play pooh sticks and skip rocks

--especially on the Fourth of July, I love to churn ice cream

--lather on the sunscreen. People tell me I'm crazy, but I love the smell of sunscreen, and I'd do it even if it didn't protect me from the sun.

--bake cherry turnovers and Dutch oven peach cobblers. Somehow, they taste better during the summer.

Can't wait to hear from you all.

Fun Stephanie! Sounds like you'll stay plenty active this summer.

Growing up we always went camping. We always went to the Grand Teton National Park and either Zions National Park or the Arches. I don't camp as much now that I'm married but I hope we can take the kids on some fun camping trips this summer. I'm sure we will but we don't have any planned right now. Usually we go jeeping in Moab in the spring but we didn't even do that this year. Better start planning huh? I love camping and hiking.

This summer we got a season pass to Cherry Hills (a water park). Should help fight the heat.

It can all be summed up in a town and state for me: Hayward, Wisconsin. For the last 16 years, I have spent a good part of my summer in this small town of northern Wisconsin. We are on a lake (literally about 50 feet from our backdoor). We waterski, sail, jet ski, jump on the water trampoline and eat watermelon on the screened in porch. There is no cable television, no internet, no voice mail and only one corded telephone to call on. We spend an average of twelve hours a day outside - and for me, this is PURE joy.

I am like Stephanie... my summers are filled to the max! Ever since I had my son (first grand-baby on both sides) everyone wants to do something. It just makes me love summer even more though

-I just got back from Disneyland last week.
-Next week I’m going to the Hogle Zoo to celebrate my anniversary. (Has anyone seen the white alligator?)
-Over the memorial weekend we are going to Zions Natl. park & St. George.
-June I’m going to Lake Powell for a week on the house boat.
-In mid-July I’m going to either San fran. with my husband or Reno to see my pregnant sister.. I can't decide!
-August yet another trip to California, this time is for my little sisters softball team.
-August we always go up to our cabin in Bear Lake for raspberry days.

This is not including the given holidays that are crazy and last minute things!

April.. is this your first time getting passes to Cherry hill? I used to go there all the time. Your kids are going to LOVE it. I think that they have a pirate ship there now!! Soooo fun!

It's our second and I just found out if you are 2 on May 25th you can get in for free. Wahoo! Megan turns 3 on the 30th. I guess going over her due date when I was pregnant has this one perk.

I like to take the kids to the zoo. There's also a great playground here w/ water sprinklers they love -- I think we spent half of last summer there. I have a feeling I'll be sitting on my front step a lot this summer watching my two ride their tricycles around our cul-de-sac...too bad I can't crop there! And, definitely fireworks for the 4th!!! We're hoping to do a lot of cook-outs, now that we finally unburied our grill and got it out of the garage ;)
