Tips for a beginner?

What are the rules of balance in a picture? I've heard something about the 1/3rd rule but i really would like to learn some basic photography techniques. Does anyone have tips for me?

A few of my teachers in High School taught me about the golden mean and how it can help you in interior design, photography, scrapbooking, etc. I think that this website talks/explains it pretty good... hope that this helps you!

I LOVE that website Jamie. I spent a lot of time looking at the examples. That should help Erin out a lot. Yay! I really like that site.

Stephanie Gallacher taught a class on some of those things at our first class at the Marriott last fall. We should do another class like that. I like the idea of breifly covering some of these ideas at the next class on June 16th.
