Beginner Track Schedule Friday, April 23, 2010 9:30 a.m. Introduction to Photoshop (Part 1) Learn all of the essential basics you need to know to start creating fabulous digital creations using any version of Adobe Photoshop. 11:00 a.m. Introduction to Photoshop (Part 2) As you continue to learn the basics of Photoshop we’ll help you start and complete your very first digital scrapbook page. So exciting! 12:00 p.m. LUNCH BREAK 1:30 p.m. No Pictures? No Problem! You don’t need pictures to document every part of your life’s story. In this class we will look at creative ways to scrapbook events you don’t have pictures for. Using the skills you learned the previous classes; you’ll create at least one scrapbook page without pictures. It may be smart to come prepared with a journaling idea. You may even want to write your journaling before the retreat starts so you can focus your time on the creative steps of creating the page. 3:00 p.m. BREAK 3:30 p.m. Brushtacular Photoshop brushes are incredibly fun and helpful to use. In this class you’ll learn how to modify and adjust brushes as well as how to create your own custom brushes. It’s super easy. Get ready for a great class! 5:00 p.m. DINNER BREAK 7:00 p.m. Templates and Clipping Masks By the time this class starts you should be starting to feel pretty comfortable with the basic concepts we will have taught you so we are going to teach another exciting way to digital scrapbook by using templates and clipping masks. You’ll love how quick you can create scrapbook pages using this method. We think you’ll be really excited by the end of the class when you have several completed pages to show for your work. 9:00 p.m. End for the day Saturday, April 24, 2010 9:30 a.m. Savvy Selections You can do so much with the selection tools in Photoshop. Using the selection tools to their full potential will help you scrapbook much faster and creatively. Would you like to learn how to turn just a portion of a photo into black and white while leaving the rest of the picture in color? Would you like to learn how to insert a person or object into another picture? We’ll teach you how! 11:00 a.m. Blending Backgrounds The beauty of digital scrapbooking is you never have to use the digital paper and embellishments you have exactly the way they are provided. You can change the color of them, alter them, crop them, shrink them, etc. In this class you’ll learn lots of tips for altering digital scrapbook paper with the main focus being how to blend backgrounds together to create an entirely new design. 12:00 p.m. LUNCH BREAK 1:30 p.m. Strategies for Brilliant Design Have you ever thought of what makes a great design? When you look through magazines do you ever stop to think why the layouts look so nice? Successful design principles will help you create beautiful scrapbook pages. Lynette Wilkins will share many of her ideas on design in this exciting class. 2:30 p.m. Double the Fun Simple tricks for creating seamless double page layouts will be shared in this class. You’ll have lots of time to scrapbook in this class with the templates and page layout ideas we will provide you with. 4:00 p.m. Review and Closing Party Sadly, the retreat can’t last forever. Alisha Shaw will guide you with design ideas in this unique fast paced class. This class was one of the most popular classes from the 2009 retreat. 9:00 p.m. End for the day Saturday, April 24, 2010 9:30 a.m. Just That Easy Sometimes the digital creations you see are easier to create than you might think. The trick is coming up with the ideas. In this class we’ll teach you all sorts of fun new ideas you can copy and recreate. 11:00 a.m. HDR Photography HDR stands for High Dynamic Range. Using pictures with three different exposures, you’ll see how easy it can be to combine those photos and bring out the best color from each exposure for incredibly beautiful results. We’ll provide the pictures for you to experiment with, but you’ll need to download the free trial version of Photomatix before the class. The free trial doesn’t expire, so download it to your computer anytime and get excited for a fun class. Oh oh oh!!! That is a great price too. That HDR class looks fun. And of course the opening party will be super fab. I like the options for the bonus classes too. This should be fun!!!

Yea! This looks like so much fun. I am totally self taught and it would be great to have some formal training!
Two questions: 1) how do I register for the freee classes? 2) is there any group pricing? I know my 11 year old daughter would love to come, I just didn't know if there was a discount. I'd love to get my mom to come too... Thx!! |
