Create a scrapbook page with rounded corners.
Reply to this thread with a link to the layout in your album, or repost the layout here.

Alyson I really like how you did the journaling around it! Cute pics, and fun lettering! Great job!

Ok so guys I don't know how to do this! Is there a tutorial anyone or can someone give me quick instructions? I am thinking I may have seen this before...is it on one of April's videos? Man I can't remember! Help!

Oh duh! I started writing a tutorial for the pole vault challenge. Ok... I'm back on track.
It's easy to round corners. You just press select>modify>smooth after selecting the area you want to cut. Here are more detailed instructions if you need more help. First, hold down the control key (what key is it for Mac?) while you click on the layer you want to round the corners of in the layers palette. This should be a layer that is not a background layer. When you do this you'll see you have selected all the way around the layer. Next click select>modify>smooth. Choose how round you want the corners and press ok. Then click select>select inverse and press delete. Will someone verify this is the same in Elements? I use CS3

Ah ha! Thanks April. I have elements 6 and the instuctions were perfect! I thought it was interesting it doesn't just change the layer to smmoth though, it just kind of cuts off the corners so it might be helpful for people to round the corners before putting on the page? Maybe? Unless you can select inverse and delete the little corner piece-y's. Hmm I'll have to play with that. I'll be posting my page soon! Thanks again for the instructions!

Amanda that is a fantastic layout! I love how onlyl parts of the picture have rounded corners. How do you make it so that only one is rounded?

I love that idea too of only one rounded corner. I tried the instructions for the rounding but it doesn't work for me. I hold ctrl and then click the layer. Then go to select>Modify is not highlighted. I've tried it several times. Is there something I'm doing wrong?

Thank you all for the nice comments
.I used a brush that I made to erase one corner. Here's the image I made the corner rounder from. It's a .psd file, so this should work for everyone. Corner Rounding Image I opened this image in PSE5. I used the magic wand to select just the black portion of the image. Click Edit>Define brush from selection. I rotated the image 90 degrees and repeated the Edit>Define brush from selection. (Because I couldn't figure out how to rotate a brush when using it as an eraser.) I saved the brushes by clicking the Brush Tool>Down arrow next to the brush preview>The double arrow to the right of the top brush showing>Save Brushes. I named the brush folder and then saved. I'd share that folder, but it has a bunch of other junk in it, not just my four corner rounding brushes. More for me to figure out, LOL! I hope that helps! |
