I'm so excited about the album Brooke Kemp taught us how to create last night. I love it!!! She has very generously allowed us to give all of you the templates for the album for free! Click on these images to see the enlarged pictures of the project:
Sample-Layouts.jpg sample-finished-album.jpg Altered-CD-album-template-s.jpg Title Page Page 1 Page 2 Page 3 Page 4 Page 5 Page 6 Page 7 Page 8 Back page Altered CD Mini Album Template Tnstructions by Brooke Kemp for Digital Scrapbook Memories (email at brookiewookie@gmail.com) 1. Open the layered PSD file. 2. Open the papers and embellishments you would like to use. 3. Select the layer you'd like to work on. Place your desired paper ABOVE the layer you want to "cover." Make sure your paper layer is highlighted, then press Ctrl-G (Ctrl-Alt-G in PSCS2). This is called a clipping mask--it makes the paper take on the shape of the layer underneath it. You can move your paper around and get it just the way you like it, then go to Layer>Merge Down to merge the two layers into one layer. 4. Continue this process with all of your layers, papers and embellishments, until all of your layers are "covered." 5. Go through and add your shadows and/or other layer styles as desired. You can totally customize templates by adding additional embellishments or more layers, roting or deleting layers, resizing, etc. You can do whatever you want!! 6. When finished with your layout, do "save as" and then print. Mounting and Displaying Instructions by Brooke Kemp for Digital Scrapbook Memories (e-mail at brookiewookie@gmail.com) Materials needed: 5 CD's Drill or Dremel Tool Loose Leaf Rings and/or ribbon Printed Digital Layouts Adhesive (whatever you like best) Step one: Complete your digital layouts as desired. Print and trim excess. I printed my layouts on my home printer on matte photo paper, but you could also send them to Costco or any other photo processor and have them printed that way. I usually print mine with a matte or lustre finish. Step two: Mount your layouts onto the CD's in the desired order. For my album, I actually laminated my pages and then used a Xyron machine to apply the adhesive (basically turning the pages into a big sticker), and then I adhered the pages to the CD's. You could also use Modge Podge or any decoupage medium to ahdere the pages, or your favorite adhesive. Once the pages were on the CD's, I trimmed around the edges a bit. Step three: Once the CD's are covered and stacked in the desired order, secure with a few rubber bands. Once secured, take your drill or dremel tool and drill a hole in the stack of CD's. I think it's easier as a two-person job!! Take your loose leaf ring or ribbon and string the pages together through the holes, then remove the rubber bands. You could tie more ribbon on the ring and decorate to your liking. Step four: Dazzle your family and friends with this darling mini album! ****Credits: For the sample album I created, I used Digital Scrapbook Memories "The Playground" CD. www.digitalscrapbookmemories.com

It goes without saying that Brooke is just amazing! Wow! Brooke how do you do it!? Thanks for the cool projects and templetes!!!
P.S. I downloaded the zipped files and it was so super easy! Let me know if you don't know how to do that. It is so easy that you won't believe it. At least for me the not-so-super-tech person I figured it out. |

These templates are fabulous! I've been thinking that I doubt I'll get the gumption to make them to paste onto cds (as intended), but I think they're great templates that I'll adapt & use for my scrapbook pages. Thanks Brooke, they are really neat!

I am just so happy that others are willing to do the work so that I 'look' creative. Thanks for letting us have these for free, Brooke. I love this project. I am probably not on top of it enough to get it done for Mother's Day, but perhaps a good Father's day gift? THANKS!
Also, thanks to April for having these great classes. I still can't figure out why they are free. They are the perfect mix of digiscrap learning and the social outlet that we all need. Thanks again. |

How fun is this?!?!? I was just thinking of taking the "buy her something and move on" route this year... but maybe I'll make a little something too.
Thanks Brooke and April!-Kelly |

What did I do? Hummm... I'm going to take that down. Thanks for the heads up. If anyone downloaded the zipped folder you'll have to also download page two and three seperately. Thanks so much for letting me know Lisa. Say hi to me next time!

Thanks for a great class, you did a great job with the template Brook. I had to leave class early so I just heard you talk about the project for a few mins. I never knew about using ctrl-alt-G to put stuff into the template, I've never really used them, just tried doing the first template, it looks cute, thanks for the tip. Since I left early I didn't get to hear how you would print these out, just on photo paper or would a glossy paper work too?
April - I live in Utah county, any plans to have classes down this way or will they just be up there for now? Just wondering if you were getting any interest from scrapbookers down here. Thanks again for the class. |

Awww, thanks everyone! I'm glad you like 'em! Let me know if you have any questions.
It looks like the zipped file is gone--there were instructions inside, so if you need instructions on using the templates and creating the album, just let me know and I'll email them to you.

April - as far as class locations in Utah County the first place that came to mind was UVSC at the small business center. There are a few small community collages down here too, such as Provo Collage. Or I was thinking you could try places like Morinda/Noni or NuSkin, companies that have big conferance rooms, I just don't know about cost. There's also BYU. I don't know if that helps at all. If you want me to ask around I can.

That helps a ton. You are welcome to check around all you want (and I would love it) but I absolutely don't expect you to. I'll check them out. Thanks.

I'm glad you all liked them!
I made 4 of them for Mother's Day, and they were big hits with the grandmas and great-grandmas!! Might even do one for Father's Day now, we'll see!

I really love the templates. I made some for Father's Day! Thank you Brooke! One suggestion though, I had a hard time drill the CDs and kind of ruined one album, so what I did on the second one was drill the CDs first then glued the page on. Before I glued the page on I hole punched where I wanted the hole to go. I hope this makes sense and helps anyone that had a problem with drilling.
